I'm here wondering if I should reply by saying "I'm fine using it to do code work, but I simply refuse to use it for image/asset generation on a matter of principle." and just take the fallout for not wanting to do that
I've expressed publically (probably a poor decision) that I'm just muting the channel where people are submitting their answers, specifying how I don't care for this challenge.
went ahead and deleted it, and said how I simply have opinions.
A coworker reached out and I expressed my thoughts to them and I didn't know a work safe way to say: "It sucks to have morals and now my livelihood, which is in an industry that is not very good for job seekers right now, is dependent on me throwing away those morals."
so many people are fine just making AI genned logos for their teams and I feel pretty alone on this island called 'morals and principles'
cool to know that I am in fact alone
Maybe I should just throw away all the art tools I've accrued over the years. no one really liked what came out of them
I should just be a good little number and just do as I'm told, and never do anything to express myself
I should just be another statistic
that'd probably make people the most happy
sorry about those last few posts, I inquired in a RP server's "AI Discussion" channel if I was right to feel icky about the situation, and the reply was effectively "No, you're weird for that. I just genned 3 images during this convo"
and combined that with people going "well ackchyually, using AI to code is much worse than using it to generate images" and I could feel my self loathing grow to a critical mass
secondly I feel like you should have the right to have a form of disagreeance on this especially when it comes to monetary relations
AI coding is absolutely better than using it for images because coding is being pulled from public resources sometimes from an AI's own database it's built on, to put thing together, it is a zero net loss work
images are literally pulling from MOSTLY things that other people made, which is why using it for things like work or to replace people is such a problem.
their reasoning is that "AI can make so many mistakes in code and if the user isn't careful, they could have slop bloated code" and like, that is true, but we're (theoretically) reviewing everything the AI is generating
anyone who disagrees with this has no respect for other people and are putting what is currently a fucking toy at best and a useful tool at worst on such a pedastal it is not ready to be on
Hell it's AI's mistakes and bloating that also fucks up anything else you use it for such as image generation
AI does not understand "quality over quantity" the people sitting in front of it do
Just... hearing "AI for Coding is bad" it over and over and over while people are talking about how they want to gen more images of their characters was breaking me down
USING IT TO GENERATE IMAGES IS JUST USING IT TO CODE
it's just taking tools from some software it has and slapping it together through ones and zeroes
finally, one person not associated with that convo, while I was effectively laying down and crying about the state of my art, life, and the world at large, saying how "AI for coding is way more horrifying than AI for images" after I've stated how I have to use AI to code (company mandate), I just... broke and went on a self destructive rant
I'm not gonna lie I have generated some images of characters I RP on like discord or for TTRPG mugshots, I have never in my life used it for something and thought "This is worth more than what I can do by hand"
cause if this is their stance on something that illogical imagine what other opinions they have
honestly, I made the mistake of asking the people who make AI images for fun a lot, if I should feel icky about making AI images
I'm feel better now that I worked through feelings with people. but ugh.... I do hate how this is life now
