i am counting it as spooky season already and no one can stop me
i went to home goods today and found some very cute spooky decor that will be up all year because that is just my vibe
including a pomegranate candle holder for my altar
stalfos: have you never seen lucifer?
NO sorry i missed bed. in my excitement
okay the bed is super cute but can you guess what my eyes fixated on immediately
stalfos: it’s the perfect bed for a little black cat
i worked from 6:45am to 7:00pm yesterday
i am gonna take some hours back on friday
i’d like to not feel like shit at some point
one of my coworkers told a whole group of people he had to leave a meeting early to prep for another meeting
and i was on meeting #2 trying to reach him and see if anyone on our team had talked to him
bc we needed his support but he wasn’t around
another 10 hour day today
tomorrow i can at least probably leave around 3:30pm ;;
and i have a long weekend the weekend of the 20th
there's a client that wants me to go to paris in the next three weeks to help them in person but.... i physically will di e
the ac at work is set so low that i’m shivering in a sweater and i just heard someone walk by and say he wishes the ac were lower
WORK RANTING AHEAD
you have been warned that i am about to whine
i am 3 months into this job and i am super stressed about it. the reality is that even the girl who started after me is also burnt out and really confused about r&rs on the team because what was sold to us isn’t what we are doing at all
i talked to one of my besties last night and she was like “you were sold a PM role but it sounds like you’re doing tactile work and don’t have any ownership though you’re accountable for 20 projects you just listed”
it’s become clear that my manager doesn’t actually know what the team he hired me for does and the actual day to day complexities, though he wants to automate the work while allowing more and more projects to come in for the team
which is 3 people globally
and while also having those 3 people support and ensure that the team of 5 people doing spec work (a team he protects and babies) is set up for success and doesn’t have too much on their plate

my manager also has 14 direct reports which includes 4 different teams but only one that he’s super involved in or understands
of the 8 people that started on his team last summer, two are left
i got booked into a mandatory meeting with our senior director and the director of business expansions on my day off and since my manager knows nothing— i have to dial in
which on one hand is job security
but so much for “there’s work life balance here and people respect your time on this team”
i’m also really tired of 7am client meetings bc the teammate in london is super overwhelmed, so our manager told her to assign stuff out to me and our colleague in india.... which also means now we aren’t delivering on all the projects he wanted done and working crazy hours
i really just need to talk to him about expectations and longevity of how all of this goes
because i can see why the turn over is extremely high
and maybe it’s time to update my resume and post it back out there
it’s literally just been since june
anyway, i am taking a break from meetings i’ve had since 7am before i head into the office since we have to be there 5 days a week even tho my direct team isn’t in the office and no one i work with is there either
uh yeah it really sounds like one
the worst is my friend is on the “preferred” team and so she’s like living the dream of only 2 projects and way better work life balance
I'll never as long as I live understand people who are like... "yeah 20 projects sounds like a reasonable workload."
violentsound: lol it’s not to anyone and i’m actually really mad
especially because part of what i am doing is also the preferred teams work
because Manager wants to protect their sanity
14 direct reports??? the fuck
that's too many for proper management imo
apparently he told my coworker who told him she doesn’t feel set up for success is that the company is very sink or swim so uh— that sound not great
lmfao well good luck holding onto staff so that the company swims then
oh this definitely doesn't sound great at all
i am also doing projects for two teams, one of which i am not on (i am not one of the manager’s chosen ones)
i’m back in the bay area this weekend and.... i feel so at peace
i have made a terrible mistake and somehow become seen as important and competent at work
i feel like in your current place, that's definitely not a positive thing
