in other IRL stuff I'm waiting to hear back from the apartment I applied to, I have to leave work early tomorrow for a doctor's appointment, and Simba gets his yearly shots on Friday after work... so I'm keeping a little busy

honestly I could probably cancel my doctor's appointment but I think I'd better go anyway... after having a clogged ear for nearly a month that isn't quite cleared up yet 😔

so w/e it's a good reason to leave work early, esp since work has been kinda slow

I also started on a new cross stitch, but then I realized that both one of the shading colors was way off, and I had it aligned wrong on the fabric... so I had to frog it (unpick the stitches) and start over

the shading being so off is def that American cross stitch magazine failing me again lol

but hopefully!! I'll get a yes on that apartment and I can start packing in my free time

WHEW okay today ended up being way busier than I expected

had to help do training at work, left work early for a doctor's appointment, and then I was finally able to tour a unit at the new apartment building

it does look really nice there, it's roughly the same size as my current apartment but where my apartment has like... a 'hallway' area that's not really liveable space, the new apartment is using that for a pantry and a w/d closet and slightly bigger kitchen and bathroom

hell just having a pantry space is huge, it'll give me a lot more space in the kitchen then I have now

the one weird thing is that the closet is in the bathroom?? like okay. I guess extra humidity won't damage clothes though so it's not a big deal

so everything's looking good there, I got the ball rolling and the office there will get in contact with me when there's a solid move-in date / any other deposits I need to pay

I'm too tired to feel excited right now but GOD am I ready to get out of this place I'm currently in

I asked the lady giving me the tour if it's a quiet neighborhood and she was like 'oh you know, we have some challenges we're dealing with... there's a few bad apples everywhere'
but considering where I live now? I'll take a couple of loud neighbors, fuck

YEAH it's because dust builds up on the power lines and it makes everything short out so much faster... plus the power company just sucked too

yeah it's definitely better when you're in a city, i was in unincorporated so we didn't really have public services? same with water where ours would run brown a lot and other gross stuff. which like to be clear it was harmless bc it was also buildup but also.

i think all places should upgrade and invest in underground power lines because they really are a million times better...

yeah underground is def better but they never want to spend the money to do it

YEAH i mean the plus side re: water was that like, it was really hard water, but we were also paying a flat fee per month so weighs hands... i can't say that there were no benefits on that front.

i'm happier with the current set up but a flat fee for water was still nice if you could afford a water softener to just have to run your faucet for awhile sometimes.

a flat fee is nice... I moved from somewhere with no water hardness at all to it being around medium hardness and it's been an adjustment period for sure

YEAH... that part was really nice but i am still happier where i am now because we're at somewhere around medium-low hardness now. it's rough. but i'm glad to be able to use a dishwasher.

my parents ruined their first one bc the water was so hard and they didn't know how to invest in a water softener... but it was rough... you get what you pay for.
