I'm at least a little more familiar with Gundam Wing, but I never bothered watching any of Geass, it never really interested me much. i don't really know why. Maybe just the art style.

yeah the combination of CLAMP design concepts with Taniguchi art direction can probably seem a bit weird

you know actual aspects of Code Geass story itself not withstanding

I think also it hit at that point in time where i was having a hard time really getting into anything with that particular sheen of digital animation that was pervasive at the time, that kinda plastic veneer that stuff like Gundam Seed/Destiny had.

we're kind of in that era again with the pervasiveness of CGI anime, stuff like what netflix keeps doing. I'm still mad they're doing that with Drifting Dragons of all goddamn things.

yeah it's definitely dated now but Code Geass handled it better than SEED/Destiny

yeah Geass wasn't quite as plastic looking but the designs made up the difference in my view, fair or not
