man I am unsure how i feel about Hornet's pogo
combat wise I think I like it more than the the straight down lunge though it takes some getting used to
but traversal is a biiiitch
its doable and therrs def a rhythm that once you get down its not too bad
but takes attention and the moment you start getting frustrated its over youre fucked if theres spikes of ay sort
reading other peoples thoughts on it hilariously i seem to have picked it up better than most but my arthritis means i get mad at it really fast cuz it legit hurts
but tbh the game hurts my hands no matter what HK was the same I knew this coming in lol
ill get it down im sure but it being a diagonal movement option that uses a straight downwards control movement kinda fucks with my head lol
so i keep on drifting diagonal and doing a slash instrad of lunge lol
even this early i think i can see the outlines of Hornet's play style over the Knight's
in thats shes more high risk/high reward
her bind is more punishing over focus if you get hit, but you heal 3 masks. her pogo is both way faster and harder to predict but she bounces higher and you can combo into multiple hits like sonic
her first big movement upgrade, the dash and dash jump, can easily yeet you tight into pits and enemies but dan girl covers gaps you would need much later moves to do as the Knight
its very kinetic comparted to HK's slower pace
The devs had a very neat recent interview about the differences between Hornet vs the Knight why is also why Silksong became its own game instead of DLC
like apparently just the fact Hornet is taller changes the entire metagame because the height difference alone changes how she'd interact with movement and the environment
so her playstyle being more aggressive/proactive is an intentional design choice
this doesnt surprise me one bit
esp in the boss fights you can feel the difference in pacing
the diagonal downstrike is not the only available option, i found a thing that turns it into more of a broad swoop
and while that one the up strike is a little more finicky and directional, the downstrike is better. seems like there are different modes for the nail where your strikes are a little different
I miss pogoing so darn much
but sprinting is also objectively better in nearly every way than a dash
and yeah binding is nice but it is INCREDIBLY punishing when you are hit out of it, since you lose all your silk and effectively 4 masks
