back at the vet with sterling bc Chris found blood on her after the litterbox/she’s being squirrelly about them again
vet thinks maybe last month’s UTI just didn’t resolve for some reason so we’re doing more urinalysis and antibiotics, for longer this time
all her other vitals are pretty good as usual
house beasts are worth every penny but god if it ain't a lot of pennies
I'm tired of stressing about it but I'm in a place between 'I am not going to make her live longer than is comfortable/happy and she will let me know when the time comes' and 'I can't afford monthly $500 vet visits' and 'I'm not going to end things prematurely because the upkeep is costly and inconvenient'
I love her so much. she's been back to sleeping in bed with us after spending some of the summer in her vacation home (the enclosed pineapple bed on the floor of our bedroom)
and having her there when I'm falling asleep has always just been such a comfort. I used to not be able to fall asleep without her
my emotional support president
that's more true than ever
Sending good vibes to the president!! Banana's had to do the double course of antibiotics for a uti before.
granny cats please have mercy on us all. hope the meds clear it up quickly
she's lucky to have you worrying about her, but i'm sorry you've needed to worry.
sending love to both of u
you're doing great!! i hope she recovers smoothly
thank u
poor little lady. hope more drugs clear it up.
vet called back and it looks like it is still just a UTI and the antibiotics should help
they think the first run just didn't take for whatever reason
which bums me out that she's been living with it for a month
fwiw it probably wasn’t bad the whole time, it probably got better but wasn’t completely eradicated
i think sometimes uti's are just hard to kick, i know the same thing happens with humans where it can appear to be gone but then come back
Bab had the same, it cleared up after the second run
if only they would just use their words and tell us what's up
gotta get poor sterling back to the vet again, her UTI is gone but it looks like she's rapidly losing weight so I just want to get her properly weighed
like she was 8lbs when we went in at the beginning of this month and they got 7.4 when I brought her for the followup on Monday
when I weighed her on the bathroom scale just now I got 6.5 but I'm like no fuckin way
like I might believe she's lost SOME weight bc chronic kidney disease but an entire pound in less than a week seems way more dire than anything I've noticed behaviorally
WELP yeah she has lost a pound since the beginning of the month. not a pound and a half but she did go from 7.4 on Monday to 7.36 today.
our first line of defense is gonna be making sure she can eat her special food without Claire’s interference because that has been a problem
but our second line of defense I think is just. acknowledge that she’s 21 and 9 months and might be getting a little tired
9 months of hard alcohol will tire anyone out
(hope she can put some weight back on those old bones with a little extra monitoring

)
aww man stressful i hope she gets some more meat on those ol bones!
oh sterling
