I already emailed, but we're now getting graded on if we watch the video lessons for math
However, that means rewatching the video lessons of the previous 4 units
But ... I already did it. They're each like 30 min long and there's 9 sections in some of these units. You have got to be kidding
I can't tab the video either, the assignments page makes it impossible to do that.
Honestly..... I might just run them over night while I'm sleeping. This is stupid
There was also no warning for this, no emails, no updates, no Oh btw...
......yeah, no, changes like that should be an "expectations going forward" type thing
Yeah it's just........... sloppy
you are perfectly justified in just having those run while you go off and like eat lunch or something
Also, respectfully. If you are getting 100s on homework and quizzes why on earth do the video checks matter
Ya, I've already seen them all
I'm just annoyed at the time sink that just. Shouldn't exist.
Hopefully the prof will just give me credit for the last 4 units
I had another issue with how grades are happening but that looks like a system error from what I can tell
I'll update with whatever email I get back about it
As someone who designed content for higher ed, that's ridiculous to change part way through (those videos are too long as well especially for math content)
If you can change the video speed I highly recommend setting them to 2x speed and just playing them in the background
It's like a separate video thing, there's only a volume button (without mute lol)
Oof. I don't often see platforms that don't have the option but some offer the ability to turn that off which is pointless imo.
The email I got back was absolutely useless lol
Didn't even address the issue with the lesson videos
But I figured out a workaround
Secondary browser running that just plays it in the background while I do lit homework lol
No headphones on and I can ignore the sound too
Such a hassle, but whatever
We're doing Confucius and Chinese poems this week and to start we have to read an intro about Chinese literature
I have so many bones to pick
I want to argue against my textbook so bad
There is a Chinese girl in my class. I won't say a word but god damn this hurts to read
Calling Cantonese a dialect
The textbook did this, to clarify
My prof knows my academic background
And I'm hoping to basically hide in a corner next class so my big mouth doesn't get me in trouble or a fight lmao
I'll be relieved when we move away from Chinese lit
Honestly, if the Chinese girl wasn't in this class, I wouldn't hold back but
I'm gonna do something else before I keep reading the textbook. I'm too far in my head lol
I feel you on this, my quantitative analysis instructor tonight said that standard deviation was an average of differences and I had to stop myself from getting up and just taking over myself
because it very much isn't, for multiple reasons
like, I get not knowing it's the square root of the second moment centered at the mean if you aren't deep in the calc based probably theory, but you square those differences before you add or divide, so it can't be the "average" of the differences
I understand your mood but not your words lmao
We read through all of Bhagavad-Gita and the Ramayana where the book went into PAINSTAKING efforts to include ALL accents to ALL the words it could
But we get to Chinese poetry and there's not a SINGLE tonal mark anywhere
And that's infuriating when the book is like * teehee this is a play on words because feng is wind and feng is influence and feng is criticism. They're all feng!
And I'm here like WHICH FUCKING FENG.
But the others I'm like ???????
Help me be able to help me I don't ask for much
Anyway, I'm tempted to pull up a non-translated version so I can actually catch all of the puns
Chinese writing loves puns.
And I mean, so do I. Have you seen my plurk username, my discord
Ya girl is HERE for it. But I can't be here for it if I can't see it
Ohhh so much is lost in translation I want to cry
The Chinese student is presenting this reading in class and I'm so hopeful she introduces the puntasticness that Chinese can be
