(Part of) SS Rotterdam on the far right. A watertaxi next to it. (They look to be fun but I didn't hire one.) The Euromast observation tower in the background. The building with the verdigris dome has a very similar counterpart on the opposite bank of the river.

Historically, they had some function to do with the port but I didn't catch the details, unfortunately.

if you've used water taxies elsewhere. In Vancouver, they are more, water busses. They have a fixed route, and are probably a bit smaller than that. They are really nice as they can get you on the water, and across it.

JigmeDatse: I did a return trip on a waterbus, to and from Kinderdijk whilst staying in Rotterdam; it was the same thing, a set timetable of routes. They are larger than the water taxis and do longer range destinations. The water taxis are restricted to destinations within the port and city of Rotterdam.

I haven't used water buses/taxis elsewhere but I'd like to do the water bus trip between Cardiff city centre and Cardiff Bay one day.

Cardiff is some place not that difficult to get to, but then it's probably not always something you may be around... Like, it probably not a huge time... About an hour driving, and I've not gone that far in over a year (I think 2020 maybe early 2021).

JigmeDatse: it's circa 1.25 hrs by train from Bath to Cardiff, which is most convenient for me. I plan to go for a day later this month but probably won't go to Cardiff Bay until a later date.
