Hey I agree on some things, but I want to point out that the Paid DLC is probably not day one. It says "coming soon" instead of the release date.

I DO think it's tacky as ALL SHIT to advertise it before the game is even out. It makes me worry that they're going to have an empty game if they're focusing on paid DLC this early publicly...

(Also question: Where is the season pass mentioned? I think they called SWSH's expansion a season pass. Is that what is being referred to?)

season pass is more. for the online battles, they have different seasons.

I mean, buying the second game is optional if you have access to the internet for it, but like the fact you have to buy the online pass for Pokemon is flat bullshit. A game I play called fashion dreamer has 100% free online play without an online pass. They could, and should, have done that with pokemon.

i saw some speculation that the reason for the lack of backwards compatibility is because they added latin spanish, and that would mean old pokemon can never go back from here on out once they cross to ZA or later

how the games function without the full pokedex, and, honestly, my big annoyance is strictly "I can't make canon teams for my OCs". There's so many pokemon easily available in all the modern games that I'm not exactly limited by choice for my playthroughs, you know?

Not being able to make your dream team does suck, but I feel like the balance of the games during playthroughs is generally a lot better now because they're not squidging with hundreds of movesets and stuff for pokemon that aren't even catchable in game.

yeah as somebody who loves knowing how the sausage is made - they likely decided tagging language on pokemon and home would be redundant. (home stores previous move sets for moving between games, for example, but thats bcuz wouldnt make sense storing it in pokemon data)

It might also be something that can't be easily stored if you send them to a past game and then bring them back? Though that I wouldn't know for sure!

I was ALWAYS for the dex cuts for multiple reasons.
1. the dex was getting HUGE
2. make. people. play. with. different. mons.
3. freshens up thr competitive scene to give viability to some, and knock some kings down some pegs
4. people should experience a living, breathing, region with new mons at the focus

i also saw the dex cut coming in alola, with ONLY the regionally available mons having dex entries. the signs were ALWAYS there that generation 8 had the potential to cut the dex

also the temper tantrums were HILARIOUS to watch

GreyWays: felt that tho with the restrictions for OC teams, but on the flipside, it's kinda fun coming up with alternatives in those playthroughs. and IMO, it leads sometimes to a thought of "maybe this isn't canon to my chars MAIN TEAM, but they're a solid alternate they can fall back on"

while i like having a 'living dex' personally, it was getting kind of fucking ridiculous

and also i need to go back to trying to get a fully shiny collection in Sun or Moon

2 was never a problem from what I can tell. Like you'd have one or two people playing through with the same mons, but in most of the games you couldn't even bring old pokemon in until near or at end-game. It was replays that people wanted the old mons for, which was valid IMO.

3. That one is the MOST important of them, IMO. Cutting from the dex and the devs having fewer mons to balance each year was such a positive change from what I've heard, even if people do have hissy fits!

My biggest sorrow aside from not being able to make canon teams for most of my trainers, is genuinely just that we don't get new pokedex entries for everything, but at the same time I feel like with fewer mons to make entries for they're not stuck basically copy-pasting entries as much, so I feel it's probably a net benefit there.

Yeah I actually like Home. My only complaint with Home is that they yeeted the GTS from the core games ages ago and the closest we have is an app that's functionality is like 90% paid only, so.

I'm indifferent on Home's paid feature, at least it's a yearly sub opposed to gouging with a monthly. I paid for Bank, so I personally just Do Not Care either way about Home's sub feature

it's just me needing to remember to have 20 extra bucks set aside one month out of the year

and I'm already paying a 20$ sub for FFXIV every month (I pay for the companion app's premium feature bc a third retainer & extra saddlebag is Nice okay), so it's like "oh, this is coming up, aight" 😂

Home is slightly worrying, but only because I'm not sure I'll have places to put some of the mons that can't come out of Home atm? Most of them can go into SwSh or ScaVi, or PLA but I'm worried I'll have too many for the non-paid if/when I need to make budget adjustments

I think that my issue with paying for Home, which I do to be fair, is just the fact the GTS was stripped from the games and placed in an app that not even a majority of people use. I love Wonder Trade, I do, but I want to trade in game for things I need without having to go to reddit! So I think my issue is less with home, and more with no GTS proper.

I mean, it looks like Champions might be meant mostly for competitive, so in theory, yeah, they'd want to eventually support the entire dex. I'm not sure how useful or cost effective it would be to store pokemon in. Like, I would not be surprised if Champions has a subscription of some sort rolled into it to make the devs more money
