Perfect for climbing - beginner level. Or just to hang on. Beautiful to just watch. Thanks!

I can imagine children climbing on those.

anyone know what species they are?

not able to see the leaves clearly enough.

pardon me for using AI, but it said that "those appear to be mature oak trees, likely London Plane trees (Platanus × hispanica), or potentially the Rehder's Wingnut (Pterocarya × rehderiana).''

But like what sef_lopod said, "exact species can be difficult to identify definitively without clearer images of the leaves or bark."

I'm leaning quite far away from oak based on the first picture. I don't know. It's not one that I go, "I think this is..." and then am just looking for clarification.

guessing plane tree from the better view of the leaves. But they would have to have been distorted in trunk habit by coppicing. Note that the sycamore / maple / acer are all similar in their leaves.

been looking for a good online comparison to show you. Eg: Maples - Tree Guide UK - Maple tree identification

the UK is mostly overrun by sycamores though. So that becomes the top guess if these are self-planted trees.

finally found the apparently unindexed London Plane: London Plane - Tree Guide UK - London Plane tree ide...

it's definitely not one of those. Their leaves are of the ash, rowan, sumac type.
sef_lopod: oh okay. thanks

the tree behind the one in the foreground has different leaves again though. So it's not a consistent plantation of all the same species in the section of park Arbieroo was exploring.
