SO the big thing to start with is: I'm not taking a hiatus in Laby, both because my actual move is going to be spread out during the month and... I'm just not going to let myself go without internet that long

if anything I might be unable to tag for 1-2 days in the middle of the month, tl;dr on that further down

ANYWAY what happened is that the apartment building I applied to switched me to a different apartment (same floor and same building so I'm not fussed about it... esp since she said new flooring was put in)

That means my actual new move-in date is October 1st! ... but I can't change the week I asked for off of work, which starts on the 15th!

what this means is that I have two weeks to start moving the stuff I can carry on my own, but I'm going to continue living and working out of my current apartment until October 15th... subject to change but I'm hoping I can get movers here that day for my furniture

(I'm still not entirely sure how I'm going to wrangle Simba when the movers are here, he might have to deal with getting shut in the bathroom for a while, poor baby)

it's a 15-20 minute drive there so it's kind of a long one but I can use the 1st and the weekends until the 15th to start moving boxes and make sure the new place is nice and clean before the furniture gets there

my laundry hamper is getting kinda full but now I can wait until the 1st and just do my first batch of laundry there... bliss

I am so spoiled on having a dryer y'all don't know how much I've suffered using a tiny semi-automatic washer

ANYWAY I'm anticipating being busy for a good chunk of the day tomorrow due to moving boxes and etc, I'll probably be home at least by the late afternoon to get plotting posts up and etc

aww I ran into the nice maintenance guy while I was packing up my car and had to explain that I'm moving out... but he's like the only person I know here because I needed maintenance so often lkjhlklj

lmao and another maintenance guy asked if I needed help, probably because I'm so pale I just turn beet red at the slightest amount of physical effort

why is my car always so much smaller than I remember......

My new apartment is AMAZING and I'm sad I can't fully move in for another two weeks

on the other hand I'm exhausted just by moving what I could shove in my car rofl

the hell of it is, there is an elevator here but it's broken rn lmao

I did expect to be navigating stairs anyway so it's. fine. that's the one single drawback so far

back home now and my dogs are really barking...... I'm going to rest up and move more things on either saturday or sunday, I'll also have to take the vacuum since the place is kinda dirty
(the floors were just replaced so I guess they just didn't vacuum after themselves, nbd)

it's still 2 weeks (and thus two weekends) before my furniture gets moved so in the meantime I'm taking the stuff I can carry

idk if anyone cares about seeing pictures of the apartment itself but I do have them.... the living room is about the same size as my current place, the bedroom is slightly smaller but that's because the bathroom is a little bigger (and thank god it is)

status update!! the move is progressing well, I just finished what's basically part 2/4. most of the heaviest things and non-essentials have been moved into my new place, and I also got it vacuumed and cleaned up

next weekend will be the weekend before the movers get here, so I'll be taking the remaining miscellany and things I can go without for the next ~3 days - so I'll get most of the kitchen stuff moved next weekend

and I'll likely also be able to take the small, lightweight furniture I can fit in my car

then the movers will be here the 15th, so the 14th after work is when I'll disassemble all of my computers, box up what I need to, disassemble the furniture as much as I can before they show up

Simba is staying at the old apartment until after the furniture is moved. it will spook him to have the movers here but he'll feel more comfortable in the old apartment waiting for me to come back and get him the same day, I'll probably drive right back as soon as the movers are done

and at that point I can live in the new apartment full-time! and I'll just be returning to the old one during my week off of work to make sure everything's cleaned up before I turn in the keys

I just know this upcoming week is going to feel like a long one, but I'm pleased with my progress and I feel like I have the hardest physical stuff done now

now please let me not have to move again at least for another few years

whew, my new apartment building sent an email (at the end of the day of course) saying that they're going to be doing apartment inspections on my moving day

I need to call them tomorrow and ask if they could do mine maybe the day after I move in

'sorry, we can't reschedule apartment inspections, if you're not there they'll just come in' I'm eyerolling really hard but it's whatever I guess

as long as they don't dig around and find my secret stash of candles it's fine

whew... it's currently 8 pm, I had to drive Simba here after nightfall while he was yowling the whole way, but I'm finally done for the day

(I forgot to mention that the elevator was working today, which is the only thing that kept me from keeling over)

poor Simba is very stressed out and unhappy but I'm hoping that he'll calm down b/c it's all still our stuff that smells like us

OKAY my back is a little sore today so I'll take it easy... I'll mostly stay home in case the apartment inspection didn't happen yesterday
I do need badly to buy groceries but I can do that this afternoon

which means I get to tidy up and put furniture together

PC GET I'm on wifi until I can get a longer cord for my modem but now I can tag and get back to playing games in my downtime ; 3;

it feels like a real accomplishment that I didn't break anything (haven't checked my work computer and monitors yet but I saved the boxes for those so they were more properly packed)

Simba also got to explore last night so he's feeling much more confident and comfy now

.... I think I'm going to save grocery shopping for tomorrow though, and then clean the old apartment on Monday, I just really don't want to move around much 😅
