this ones rly minor but there was this one rper when i played in monadexe.... i cant remember who they played, it was a clamp boy i think. but we had a couple threads together nothing major crwise yet, and then i look in their plurk and theyre talking about my character to someone else
and they were explaining my character's background to them but ????? wrong???? they did not know this canon at all. it was the weirdest thing ive ever had to poke in and correct someone on like ?????????????
and like JUST Yami Bakura, cause why bit back then, but they had him make a public post masturbating and begging for a character he had a crush on
and then later when they dropped for unrelated reasons they put in they drop that actually their character figured a way out of the jamjar on their own so theyre back home now (??????)

long story made short. Yami Bakura got banned and the mods and YGO cast had to be like GOSH, WEIRD HOW THAT ROBOT THAT LOOKED LIKE YAMI BAKURA GOT ON THE SHIP!!!!!
so that any new Yami Bakura's didn't have to have that as "past memories" in other characters

yeah i was in a game once where uhhhhhh the player of a certain character turned out to be Very Not Good A Person so it was collectively decided that everyone else in the game got targeted amnesia of that character. clean break.

there was one case in trans_9 where a character had been OOC enough that the solution was that they were like, oops, this OC accidentally got the wrong person's memories uploaded, and that character became an OC from the same canon and that was why she didn't match up to her canonmate's memories
which I thought was a pretty solid way to handle it if the character/player in question is sticking AROUND
