If you have almodt ten thousand pages of high fantasy in you

This is worth the read

It is a story of ancient powers returning to a world that thinks them long gone, and about how stories change in meaning over centuries of historical revisions

About colonialism, sexism, depression, ptsd, and mental health

It’s also a story about medieval knights in power armor

It’s really consistently just

Really fucking rad

Parts of the series are just a fucking slog to get through

As endless disaster and despair gets heaped on the heroes for hundreds of pages

I would say that, taking into account that this is part oje and had to end on a dramatic cliffhanger

It sticks the landing

A lot of things are unresolved but the stage is set for an even larger conflict to follow

The main antagonist is one of my favorite of all time, now

They’re just so utterly hateable

it's on my train-commute reading list for after I finish the Inda series

(just started book 3 of 4 so it'll be a while yet)

you and quinn have successfully sold me on it through your plurks about it

excellent

ALSO:

- explicitly gay characters in the core cast, though it doesn't actually come up until pretty late in the series

- Acknowledgement that trans people exist
