just as i was trying to find a comfortable stopping point for p3p
(bunkichi's wandered into tartarus so i'd get the monthly visit started on the first night shinjiro doesn't want to hang out, that'd be a good enough stopping point)
good luck, i’m scared to try that game
oh i've been a big fan, but i haven't played it in like twenty years
but i've been waiting like a decade for any kind of version available on a modern system
i was so ready to move on with a plan for the progression on my units when i happened to click the l button and wanted to see which stats it would display
realized the girl i had set to be a black mage had 70 bravery and the girl i was gonna make a night had 70 faith
time to do a real quick pivot on both and be glad i caught it early
the two male squires i started with both have pretty medicore bravery/faith, but maybe i should switch to the one i haven't been using since he's sligtly less mediocre
then again i could keep that low faith to tank magic and just try to raise the bravery later
ben starr feels like a weird choice for dycedarg, he's not quite hitting the right energy yet
but i've never heard him try a villain before, maybe it'll start to gel more as dycedarg's role solidifies
ziekden fort fight be like
ramza: hold up delita are we the baddies
delita: (draws a sword that says KING SHIT) not anymore, and never again
ramza: (solemnly nods and draws his own sword, which says AKAB) u right u right
finally at yardbrow, started out annoyed how many turns they get to wail on rapha before my first turn, but don't feel so bad about it after ramza puts her to max with one chant
and then i started cackling when i realized that marach and three ninjas had all just arranged themselves in a line that agrias can easily reach
yall don't know about my divine ruination
leaving off just before the most notorious battle in the game, will need to think about a good setup for ramza
soloing wiegraf is a lot worse than last fight with him, where he starts out waltzing into a spot where you can easily have the entire gang focus up on him and end the fight before the first round ends
I have been reminded why this is the worst fight in the game, gonna have to run that back
i can't remember if this is new, but belias has a line explaining his plan to give auracite to the poor, because it granted his wish so maybe it would grant theirs
it granted yours because your wish had been ground and filed down into simply staying alive and having enough power to kill ramza
those are the only wishes that the auracite can grant
anyway, taps the sign
also it has been twenty years and i forgot this wasn't the last fight at riovanes
it's the roof, is this the one against elmdore and his demon hipster chicks? i guess i thought that was later
possibly also with an objective to protect marach, since i'm sure we need to have another confrontation with him before he and rapha join the party for good
wild that the second worst fight is directly after the worst fight in the game if that's the case
and now i remembwer why this is the second worst fight
protecting rapha in fact, and they're way faster than my folks so they can kill her before my second unit even gets a turn
also this map really sucks so it's hard to get anyone but ramza into the action, and rapha's ai is not acting defensively either
this fight might be worse actually, because every single rng needs to roll in my favor or it's a game over (so i might as well restart)
elmdore's sword spirit can't confuse rapha or she's dead
rapha does actually need to go on the attack or she's dead, because if she's close, celia and lettie will get some distance and cast ultima, but if she's far they'll come after her and physically attack, and they can 1-shot her with that
mustadio has to get an arm shot on lettie, because cancelling one of those ultimas is the only way rapha will survive
someone has to heal her immediately after the ultimas, or elmdore's second sword spirit will kill her
i haven't gotten past that point yet! we'll see what new failure conditions i have to figure out how to avoid!
so far most of my restarts are for that arm shot not hitting
maybe at that point ramza needs to do some attacking instead of another chant, since by then rapha will have the rest of the party to hide behind, and mustadio can heal her immediately if celia charges another ultima
at least it ends quickly once you get rapha out of immediate danger
one jump from ramza and a divine retribution from agrias got elmdore feeling like he didn't want to fight anymore
i don't like the class name change
not being a knight is too core to ramza's whole deal, he never progressed beyond a squire because he saw the system and the part he would be playing in it and turned his back on the whole thing
he never swore fealty, he was not knighted
giving him the title of knight "as a sign that he follows his own path" is a contradiction at its core, because to be a knight is to not follow your own path
the idea is to add some prestige to him by calling him a knight, but to call him a knight is more of a millstone around his neck, it weighs him down and makes him lesser
so the question is: is this maehiro unsurprisingly missing the point, or is this just on the english end? the latter seems less likely to me
and misunderstanding the narrative purpose of being frequently compared to one's father definitely seems in line for the guy who created fucking elwin rosfield
