Like it might just be a combo of period coming up soon and me not eating enough calories for breakfast/lunch these days but it still couldn't hurt to run this by the doc

I think it’s a good idea. Honestly, I know you’re a light sleeper right? If you can look into a sleep study, you might want to. I remember Hilary has a ton of sleep issues that stemmed from narcolepsy because her brain just wouldnt shut off. It was a key factor in her adhd diagnosis

IT'S TRUE -- I had terrible narcolepsy, and didn't realize it in part because I didn't understand what it actually is

because media portrays it as "person falls asleep randomly for no discernible reason" when there is a very good reason

which is that the brain is not properly shutting down and resting when it's supposed to sleep, and thus demands more sleep to try and get that proper rest. so if I was allowed to sleep in, I would sometimes sleep 12+ hours and still be exhausted

and at first I took melatonin which... helped a little?? basically sedating my brain by force

but when I was diagnosed with ADHD and started meds, all of a sudden......... my narcolepsy vanished. I was sleeping better than I ever had before without any sort of sleep medication

because ADHD is basically when the brain isn't getting enough stimulation. it doesn't feel as satisfied for as long, making tasks feel less rewarding, meaning it is constantly looking for something to engage it and give it some sweet, sweet dopamine.

so when I was trying to sleep, my brain was like "NO FUCK YOU I'm not READY to sleep I'm still BORED" like a toddler that had too much energy

and ant can tell you... there were signs I wasn't fully asleep. I was basically beating him up with kung fu moves with all my tossing and turning

so yeah, a sleep study could help a lot?? just to see if maybe you're not actually getting enough rest even when you sleep

I should note too, I wasn't just sleeping forever, I also had a lot of trouble falling asleep in the first place. my brain just had no idea how to shut up and go the fuck to sleep
