With the way I'm designing it, you'll be able to choose which tools you enable and potentially be able to add more as they get requested. Increased customisation etc

I'll also include the ability to import and export tool settings so they can transfer to other browsers you have

Fair warning - it may not look EXACTLY the same as DW Tools did because I need to make this work across all platforms, not just DW but the key thing is that it will work

If anyone needs, there is a workaround for dw tools for now, until this comes out. I'm just glad if this means it's all together in the one extension once it does!

Simple, effective and you can have as many code snippets as you want without things getting too busy, and it will work nicely on IJ, LJ and DW and for IJ users it will work with the Sanity Browser tool that Tess does

Fair warning to all - the icon insert that DW Tools has for imgur is going to be easier said than done if I go an imgur alternative (assuming imgur closes down) So far the only viable alternative I have found is Flickr, which... is not ideal imo

Yeah I feel like the imgur functionality while cool is awful to get working with the state of those sites today. And the current owners have already shown a willingness to remove content if you're just using it as an image host (y'know its original use case) instead of as social media

My big issue is that imgur is now banned in the UK. I mean I can just do it using Flickr - it should just work

A lot of the sites I would prefer using, dont have album retrieval support via an API

I'm sure someone's already asked at some point, but similar to imgur-hosted extra icons, what about if we host them on DW itself? DW does offer some image hosting....

I'm guessing that a popup or menu or something for similarly-pasted-in ease for a DW gallery might be a little beyond scope? I'm thinking on how I once hosted a bunch of tiny images on imgur to use as a sort of alternate font for in-tag stuff, haha.... but I've been doing that on DW itself instead for similar as of late.

what about something more generic - a DIY gallery sort of thing, where you can put in your image urls, and select them visually, akin to the code-snippet dropdown? and then if someone wants to do a menu like that on anything from DW to their self-hosted ftp server, to some old Tripod account, they could?

Nightsail: It shouldn't really matter - I won't be specifically coding it to work for but it should really just work. This is a mockup as opposed to a final product - its more to guage how it could work. I still have to do all teh actual coding

also i know this is likely out of scope, but for when u have an image gallery, perhaps include a warning that imgur can't be viewed in the uk for now?

Nightsail: You're totally fine! you will notice that ya know, its not 100% perfect. It has to fetch and load them the same way that browse icons does. I have prioritised the icon load so the performance is better than most, and its great if you're using it all the time because its cached, but you can still have image loading sometimes

okay - I need a break from coding but you can all see how its coming together and how it might look/feel. I have the browse free accounts and the code injection all working for all sites. I can see how icon (or just image) insert will work. Blacklist and expand all/autoscroll etc I have half working? I just need to clean things up

Re: The snippets that you're pre-loading. Do we have to keep those? B/c I have keyboard shortcuts for like bold/italics/etc already and wouldn't need or want them there 😅

So the plan - once I am a little more set up with this, is to allow creators to submit codes to the gallery for credit obviously. also to invite icon creators to allow use of their icons in the gallery previews, in exchange for credits. I thought this would be a nice way to allow creators in the RP community to get involved

i use firefox containers to manage my rp accounts so i haven't been able to dive into using jg for real yet, but i have it installed and keep it updated just because it's such a beautiful love letter to the journal rp community

it's really amazing what you've been able to do over such a short time, it's such a useful and well-designed tool
