Here is me saying Do not buy, do not sub, check it out again in 3 years if it's still kicking
The game had a rough early access. They released it for early access and then instantly went on their summer break. On return, the ball already had lost momentum
unfortunate, thanks for telling us
They intended for their early access to last a year. That would have been.... May I think. So they are still releasing within a decent (like ~5-6 months late) timeframe of that but at what cost....
LIKE don't get me wrong I LOVE this game. It is an RPer's paradise
But there is not enough content to support PvP, PvE or PvEvP
The crafting system is robust but it is tedious. I love how tedious it is. I love that it can take months and you have to build connections with other masters to progress.
But crafting doth not maketh game
If you don't like tedious crafting systems, this is not for you.
also from my perspective as a FFXIV player and seeing how intolerant the majority of the player base is with even a moderate grind...
i know that the FFXIV player base isn't the be all and end all, obviously
but my point is i feel like not a lot of people would be into that grind
I love the grind but it is one of the worst grinds I've seen and I've played BDO where a fucking drop is at .00001% chance and that one mob is 1 every 500 kills
I know grind and this one hurts but I love it LOL
BUT AS FOR RP. There are issues. I say RPers paradise but it has some drawbacks
One of the fundamental problems, in my humble opinion is the lack of in-game systems for larger clans. There is no cap on players per clan (this is good) however it can become INSANE to manage when you are literally building a city with 500 denizens
What I have seen happen is the necessity of a "city" or "kingdom" having to faction out itself to keep things under control. But this naturally leads to rifts, lack of communication and branches so far gone it's hard to find the root again
And in RP where you have big egos when someone is playing a King or a Queen or an EMPEROR this gets messy
I have had to move my entire life in that game SO many times becomes of Kingdoms rising and falling around me and the drama that comes with
Moving in that game? Takes literal hours. The map is huge and there's 5 maps (more to come).
Going from 1 end of map A to the opposite on map B can take 2-3 hours depending on your buffs and how much trouble you run into on the way
I hate moving. I hate having to carry all of my mats and gear and house across maps because someone couldn't play nice in RP
i feel that, i hate doing that in FFXIV and it's way easier than what you're talking about
If you are interested in Pax Dei, wait for a sale, don't sub. You can play the game without a sub and just a purchase, but you won't have any plots
Without a sub though, you can still explore, you can still make friends, and you can still check out the game. But it still takes that initial purchase
Yeah, it's a little different from region hopping through a menu hahaha
To keep plots you need to sub. LOL it's like an in-game rent it's WILD
I am not upset at the payment model. I am upset that the full release still looks and feels like an alpha after promises that it would be in a different place at full release
They chose to release 6 months after they said they would but the improvements to warrant it are not enough to maintain a playerbase with that payment model
I have 1 "free" month as a founder. I have no clan. I am at a large disadvantage but my character (if I get to keep the name!!!) is well known enough that I have IC/OOC connections to survive as a "solo" player.
There is a full wipe happening on the 14th
Hence my concern of character names being kept
I am not sure if I will use that "free" month. It's terrible timing. I would have preferred using it in Dec/Jan when I have a month off from school
