DW TOOLS - Imgur Icon Insert
latest #25
So I'm doing JG version of this, but the code insert that DW Tools uses is outdated af and doesn't work on modern browsers. I am looking to use this code instead, but would love some feedback from those who want this feature, to know if it will work for you

<img src="YOUR_ICON_HERE" width="115" height="115" style="float:left; padding: 0 15px 15px 0;">YOUR_TAG_HERE<div style="clear:both;"></div>

This is how it would look

(This is a feature I just never used so I don't really know how people would want to use it, best solution then is for me to ask)
when you say "imgur" do you mean "specifically from imgur" or just "from an image hosting site"?
I'm just asking because imgur has been. rapidly deterorating
FaeRose: Its how it worked in DW Tools. Its not how my version will work
I specified Imgur bc I was referencing the DW Tools functionality for this question
FaeRose: I talk about how my version will potentially work In this plurk :-)

would it still be possible to carry over the original fix option as well? maybe optionally? i'm not sure what the original code looks like so no worries if not, but with the experimental features enabled, it still appears well for me:

fairylock: Theoretically its doable though I can't fathom how it was working with the version I've seen - I could well have an outdated version, or I'm missing something!
(I also generally make a point of not looking at the code for DW Tools as I don't want to be ripping off the creators hard work - its more there if I want to understand what a feature I never used actually does)

oh!! understood, that's totally fair 😊 for me i tend to use this feature to replace the dw icon when i know other people have it enabled as well only for icons i wouldn't normally upload and i'm fine with this limited use, but i think other people who use it more generally might find your solution better!
fairylock: Okay now I see how it works - the user has to have the feature enabled for it to replace the actual icon - for most people its just in the post
(ie if you sent me a post where you used this - it wouldnt display for me as I dont have DW tools enabled)

yes, i think so!! you'd just see the normal dw icon and then the rest of the comment
I could do it but I won't lie, I personally am not a fan of this approach as it effectively would be forcing users to enable a feature to just be able to view things. It's also getting next level on bypassing DW limitations. If there's enough demand for it and I can verify I wont be in breach of DW TOS then I will

sounds good, no worries if this approach to it doesn't work out and thank you for your hard work regardless!!
fairylock: Most welcome! And hey - I may have a creative spark that allows me to achieve the same thing with a different approach and as long as its DW okay then I can look at that option!
I think I could do it easy enough for browser view but not sure it would be mobile friendly
(I hate that journals strip CSS - the things I could do if it didn't)
the lj juggler feature actually went as far as overlaying the icon, didn't it? it was wild (I did not use this feature much)
oh I see someone mentioned it ye
I can't imagine it would work on mobile
