It stars Peter Cushing, who's the only name that I recognize in this cast.
I thought the murderous bald guy was Frankenstein's monster; turns out it's Dr. Frankenstein in a mask.
From the bloody decapitated head alone, I'm not sure how this got a PG13 rating.
Peter Cushing does a good job in the role, but his characterization of Frankenstein is very different from the book and the Universal movie. (More villainous, obsessed with progress no matter the human cost and having no problem with murder)
The rape scene seems completely gratuitous and unnecessary.
Peter Cushing can turn on the charm when needed. He feels like a completely different version of the character, but the two versions still fit together.
The movie ended rather abruptly, though the house continuing to burn over the credits is a chilling image.
Maybe I missed a detail, but the whole reason why Dr. Frankenstein wanted to get his former associate out of the insane asylum was to cure his madness and discover his secret to transplanting a brain from one body to another. However, Frankenstein had to transplant his associate's brain to save his life. (If the resulting situation can be called "living")
Maybe the associate had a more effective way of transplanting brains, but it seems weird that Frankenstein's goal throughout the movie is to get his hands on knowledge about something that he already knows how to do.
