There were a few frustrating bits but I'm gonna blame that more on the module than the GM
Fuckin' spec ops template is bullshit
We got stranded on a real shithole of a planet because our ride out had his ship's NHP stolen
We had to go through a whole investigation to find it
During which we found a guy who was going to mash a bunch of NHPs into a blender and drink the juice to become god
Monist-1 felt like stepping in to nudge us in the right direction to put a stop to that
In the end we saved the NHPs, then a bunch of spec ops guys who wanted to steal them tried to have us whacked
And we kinda wiped the floor with them
We had a Calendula, a Caliban, and ah....Sherman variant?
svensational I don't have Tara friended what was taht thing?
Tagetes! From Shadow of the Wolf
And yeah it's the Sherman Variant Frame
the Enkidu to Sherman's Tokugawa
it's funny that only in the optional fight at the end of the module
doe it put proof to my thing about Calendula's general weaknesses
Waht is the Calendula's general weakness?
a fucker beyond my sensor range who can just hit me every turn for respectable damage
aka That Fucking Death's Head
yeah I do recall you mentioning that you would have almost no counterplay against artillery
I do think it's pretty funny
That this whole module was designed by an asshole to make players feel like the core book options are woefully underpowered so he could push his overtuned bullshit expansion
but that by complete coincidence, we happened to all choose the set of builds that countered everything in there pretty well
a lot of it came down to mission sitrep, too
every map that was a holdout map that wasn't the final fight was literally cakewalk because the Calendula loves to force you to get close to it
Even with our build countering a lot of shit the module threw at us it was still pretty brutal
Trying to remember everything the spec op template gives you
- Can turn invisible until the end of your next turn as a protocol
- Immune to reactions and engagement
I think the two things it gives you are that + the bonus activation
- Gets a free bonus turn at the end of the round
only the boss lady was immune to reactions and engagement
the rest of it was the fact all the spec ops ALSO had veteran template
and veteran template is just
you should not be giving everything veteran
let alone Veteran and ALSO one-shot invisibility for what amounts to A Third Of The Combat
