How far do you think they'll take it into the a Manga?

No idea! As they're not following the manga completely

They are taking themes, imagery, and some moments from the manga/orginal 98 anime, but Trigun Stampede/Stargaze is 100% it's own story

afaik they did say stargaze is not a "season 2" of stampede but a continuation ... hence the different director etc

Good point. I was debating if 'Season 2' would be the right term because they've avoided using it themselves, but it still felt like the simplest short hand for someone not obsessed with Trigun right now
