i can see why people were bitching about the ending, because I do feel it lacked some of the emotional pathos of the first one, but also: I can't imagine Zagreus making any other choice.
hell, I think if Zag had killed him I'd have been deeply disappointed about it LMAO
that said, I feel like there's a lot of loose ends, and I'm sure there's gonna be hella extra stuff to find out
YEAH LOL I do understand where people are coming from, but at the same time as soon as Zagreus was introduced I was also like
there is no other way this could have gone, honestly, that's just so
like tbf I haven't seen what the discourse Is, i just heard there Was discourse
and i assume it's "we didn't actually kill Chronos"
I think some of it is valid, mostly that the ending feels more like Zagreus' moment to shine than Meli's when it was... her game/task, but! she entrusted it to Zagreus, not knowing how he is, and was rightfully upset and needs time to adjust so I'm fine with it
the most uncharitable takes and ones I lost my mind over are that excusing Chronos is a concerning trend of excusing irl abusers lmfao
like did you not play the first game, maybe, or understand the entire narrative from the beginning of the series was breaking the cycle of generational trauma and not making the same mistakes as the family before you, or what!!!
YEAH, like... I do wish Meli had gotten to be the one who Finished It, but
the whole point of Hades is that doing the same violence as your predecessors leads only to the same result
that in order to change and grow sometimes we must be the better person in the moment, and that is not necessarily forgiveness, but it is healing
but it did feel anticlimactic
I agree!! I definitely understand why it ended the way it did, but was also kind of like well... HM. there is a lot of stuff left to do though even post-credits so I had fun with that at least
tbh I feel like if I was going to just edit it a LITTLE bit I'd have put more pushback from Zagreus on the "can't we talk to him" option
like... talking to Meli more through the runs about what he's learned, and how Hades has grown, and how important that's been
yeah!! I do think we should have gotten, like, more moments or time with Zagreus to discuss things and that would have helped it feel not so rushed near the end
yeah like the more I think about it the more weird it feels if only bc like... the big pathos in the first game was Zagreus taking that leap of faith towards Hades and this person he's never understood, and choosing kindness
so not letting Meli make that same choice is. underwhelming
if anything i think they should have let her time travel basically and make that choice at the end
and then like, Melinoe is learning from her family, who she thought Chronos robbed her of, how to be the best of them
esp since all the Olympians were like YEAH NO KILL THAT BITCH when in the alt timeline Hades forgave him because he has learned how to grow and just
yeah. I guess Melinoe didn't get that same growth, for me. which is disappointing.
