why am i watching before any of season 3?

because i reached a point in my outline where i needed to have a better idea of what was up with yugi during 5Ds time :x

ans then i was like. well i might as well just. watch the whole thing.

i'm not positive i've seen this subbed before.... i saw it in the theater when it first came out, but that was dubbed obviously. i think i had to have watched the sub at some point but alksjks it's been ages...

anyway. this movie is so fucking cute oh my gooood

yuusei and juudai are so cute together jfc

juudai is just. really precious in general akjslsjs he's just so enthusiastic about everything lmao

that man fucking loves adventures and he's on the best one of his life right now

yuusei having to get friendship speeched by the other two is so funny

aLSO after the friendship speech there's this shot where yuusei's thinking about his friends back home

and kiryu is there of course <33333 as Team Sat Kiryu lmaooooo thnx for establishing that this is firmly before crash town lol AND HE'S STANDING CLOSEST TO YUUSEI other than ushio & the signers i guess lol

I think about that one fic of yugi returning to neo domino post dark signers(?) and reconnecting with ushio and the background notes of hos thoughts imply everyone else like. moved somewhere

the gx section on his wiki page implies he was traveling a lot. like, Sugoroku tells Juudai at some point that yuugi was "on another journey", which makes it sound like he was traveling a lot

i'm assuming anzu wasn't in domino anymore for sure

and probably bakura

i've always kind of assumed kaiba died in ZR tho :x

anyway, one thing i love about this movie is that even though it is definitely more about yuusei/5Ds than the others, i feel like you don't have to have actually watched 5ds to enjoy it

even though paradox is part of yliaster/the S3+ plot, the movie is really really vague about what his actual deal is

so he stands on his own as a one-off villain just fine

also, everyone gets their chance to shine in a way that feels pretty balanced, considering yuusei is definitely the "main" character here

he feels like three years younger and baby faced because of it lmaoooooo. you can tell how much he respects them since he's adding the -san

he really does it's so sweet or maybe more than three years, bc three years ago he was a little gremlin

he has a lot of really good kind of vulnerable expressions in this movie

i mean, to be fair, they never actually say a time or amount of years or anything, but they're definitely talking about yuugi like he's from some bygone era, and jack's like "man i wish i could duel him, but that's impossible unless i somehow traveled through time"
