but he was one of my favorite actors since I was a kid watching him on 'Benson'

Incredible actor. We have a friend whose father was a writer/showrunner on Benson - if you remember the episode where Benson and Kraus have a shared post-apocalyptic dream, she was the little girl who snarked about being in the fur coat - and she said that Rene Auberjonois was a lovely man.

Apparently all the cast and crew were pretty nice to her, which is partly due to who her father was, but I remember what she said about Auberjonois the most because he and her father stayed in touch for years afterwards.
