ZZZ is only a year old, but it feels like 3 so far
Personally, I think 2.3 is the strongest part of Season 2 so far... It's been mostly alright with the whole transition into the Waifei Peninsula, but I do feel like there are some things that's been missing compared to S1
spiritualwhisper: I'M NOT SURE... I guess it's just all the content we've been getting feels like a lot
Spook Shack is my favorite Season 2 gang so far!!

Manato best boy
i need to catch up... he calls to me
With all the love he's gotten in this patch, he felt like he should've been an S-rank
ZZZ staff has beaten the "We hate male characters" allegations
sfhdsjfh I severely doubt it's the staff... it's usually "a man will not sell"
He's def. a combo of Jotaro/Leon and probably a few other characters
Banyue (Lion robot man) was very cool in that patch too, so I look forward to rolling for him!!

itshould'vebeenme.mp3
Manato absolutely deserves to be an S-rank
the fact that he is not is a crime in itself
spook shack is my fave faction as well!
I loved Yidhari more than I expected
and I definitely feel like we are missing some things from season 1
I also kinda miss the whole "we're proxies and nobody can know about that"
right now everybody knows, even the new people
I think my issues with Season 2 is that it feels more streamlined than Season 1 if that makes sense... I loved the urban adventure vibes that came in S1 and the Proxies going on episodic adventures while hiding their identities
But YEAH... In Season 2, everyone knows who Belle and Wise and it feels like the only people who can touch them now are either the people in TOPS or the cultists
yeah I actually really don't like that part haha
also the part that they're not just nerds who barely can run xDD
idk having them being so hopeless in the hollows was part of the charm
getting the magical upgrade also didn't feel earned
but it did enable some interesting things
I have to wonder if there were some criticisms on the CN side where they didn't like Wise/Belle being mysterious hackers and felt they needed to get stronger
ZZZ has been leaning more heavily into the mystical elements compared to the sci-fi elements and I do think about if that's been a good thing or not
They've always been there (Miyabi's storyline and her sword), but it felt more subdued imo
they made very sure that a lot of things can be explained with how the tech works in the world
I think this patch felt more like the earlier S1 patches where we get some character development from the new characters. I've already gushed about Manato, Yidhari had more depth than I thought since she's OCTOMOMMY, Lucia made me sad at the end
She's presented as a goofball, then that ending happened
The whole theme about "dreams vs. reality" was handled really well
Wish we could see more of the drowned ideals of other characters... Like Yuzuha since Manato was like "YEAH YOU BETTER NOT GO"
Anby would have one for sure probably... Nicole and Nekomata don't have too much baggage, Billy is a big question mark since he appears content, but his bond events show that he might have skeletons in the closet?
Yixuan feels like she would have one if she didn't overcome her sister barrage earlier on
But our Shifu would overcome it either way
Also the Obol Squad controversy... I guess I'll talk a little bit about that
"Do I still like Obol Squad?" The answer is yes... I still think they're a fine group.
I am disappointed with how they've been handled tho'
Like S11 was the hype tool for the group and they felt like the rawest of the raw, then you had Trigger who helped out with that narrative
Trigger's side story was one of the darkest in ZZZ... Then we have Orphie/Magus and Seed
Orphie/Magus were more entertaining than I thought and really loved the storyline with Isolde
Isolde is one of those NPCs that make me go "If I'd roll for you, I would"
I still need to do Seed's side story before I make full judgement about her, but I'm still so petty and salty that I can't play as Seed Sr. Robo
I feel like they wanted to replicate the SAM/Firefly magic in HSR for her... Firefly had much more ungodly levels of marketing and Seed just came out of nowhere
There were hints that there was something going on about Seed in some character events, but I guess I feel like that I was forced to take a left turn at a destination that I wanted to go to
And I'm just forced to stay there!
tl;dr: DID THEY SEND ME WAIFUS WHEN I ASKED FOR MEEEECHS
But I'll get over it... Not mad, just disappointed
Overall, I think Season 2 had a weird start and the middle has been showing improvements, but if the finale hits as hard as S1's did then people will probably warm up to it more
I'm not sure what they can do with Season 3 since that will depended if the cultists are fully defeated or not
Might be too early to go to the moon and space, but you never know with ZZZ

ACCURATE
Her PV could change that, but YEAH YEAH
And just finished Yidhari's dreamscape story and hoooo boy
I like this took a similar approach with Hugo's backstory and trauma where we get to interact with it directly instead of have it be told to us

The true enemies of ZZZ feels like it's always society with TOPS' corruption or people who are unable to overcome their pasts
That is very consistent and I love it
As much as we like to joke about ZZZ being a gooner game, it really is a story about overcoming your past to live and celebrate your present
I like that's something missed in the S1 prologue where it feels like filler stories, but they do a good job showing how Astra, Vivian and Hugo have all been used by TOPS as tools and they want to be free
Which is an interesting character combo to see interact, but I doubt they'd traumashare with each other or anything

I feel like Spook Shack is becoming Cunning Hares 2.0 in a good way
Yuzuha and Nicole were interacting in her PV which feels like a nod by the team to say "Yes, Yuzuha will be the next Eridu menace if Nicole retires"
Kinda like how Astra is prepping up the Angels of Delusions (their banner is coming eventuallly)
Also that final fight music really reminded me of Trails boss themes
