- Mods can include recipes (cooking)
- NO script mod support in the mod system. Just aesthetic mods
- Multiple Paras will not attempt to use the same item/activity if another Para is already using it (example....)
If 5 Paras need to use the toilet, the first will go, but the other 4 won't interrupt because they don't "detect" a toilet is nearby until the first is finished
The other 4 can autonomously check for a toilet every 5-10 in-game minutes and the next one or closest gets dibs
- Non played Paras (neighbors, townies, etc.) won't have this Needs issue (toilet issue) because their needs are turned off/unavailable. They will still eat/use the restroom but it's fake and unnecessary
- Paras can be completely randomized from Personality to "vibe" to appearance
- Townie paras will follow specific loops to walk around town, have routines and daily habits with some RNG. When visiting other places or lots, not necessarily town, other Paras should be there
- Pathing/Movement speed/Map not final. Current map would take 3 in game hours to trek for 1 Para. But current map isn't the final map
- A Para "born" into the game's genetics are not altered if you enter Paramaker to like say Change Hair color or style (straight -> curly, etc.)
- There are currently 8 life stages (pre-teen is their newest tweak)
Current life stages:
- Baby
- Toddler
- Child
- Pre-teen
- Teen
- Young Adult
- Adult
- Elder
- There's about 300 cheats but most are dev cheats that won't be needed for player use. But yes. Cheats are abundant
- Negative Para interactions are being worked on, might be adding a "slap" but nothing would be excessively violent
- They are currently not discussing lore but they likely will have lore for townies and towns, etc.
- Walls and Floors are mostly entirely recolorable (maybe not grout lines..)
And that was all the Sept dev talks
I am kinda bummed no script mods cause those can be crazy fun but I also get it because they can be hideously game breaking and that can be such an issue
Attaching mods to the game itself is a good shout that should keep the game stable for longer despite whatever content is added or adjusted
A lot of these sound great! And I agree, bummed about script mods BUT, you’re/they’re right that it can be a huge problem (and also lead to people contacting support with problems and them having to go through a whole ‘okay, did you uninstall all your mods and try from the base game??’ process before even troubleshooting) so I do get it
also tbf it’s inherently unsafe to run unknown script on your computer, modders of niche sims games just mostly aren’t interested in hacking
like: I say that as someone who downloads 800 scripts for things
LOVE that they gave a preteen stage, had to get SO hacky with the sims to do that lol
There have been hacks with Sims though, MTS has had to finally add security after some modder accounts got compromised. CF has had to the same
But yes, I understand your point
I too have 100s of script mods for the Sims but it's mostly for my historical challenge games
I couldn't live without them .-. Who wouldn't want to trigger the bubonic plague or a zombie apocalypse and let it run rampant
Well and like the weird shit with people installing trackers to make sure their paywalled CC wasn’t shared 🙄
I am always just like ‘....how’ with some of those where there’s whole story cause and effect and a ton of interrelated stuff and animations and NPCs like ‘dude you just built an entirely new game’
I never got around to Zombie Apocalypse but damn it looked cool
Ihdreniel Yessss I am so pleased with 8 from the Early Access gate
lol you would probably choke from the number of mods I have to upkeep for my game to work how it does for Sims
wingedvoices
I've whittled it down to 14k but it used to be 26k
YA And that's me being Choosey I assure you
I mean...before I admitted to myself that I hadn’t had time to REALLY PLAY in over a year I had pushing 10GB in my Mods folder (including just CC) sooo...I probably wouldn’t
I have spreadsheets to keep track of them all
I'm at.... 50GB at the moment
Ahahaha I never counted how many
Is that including cc files and like poses, traits, recipes or ONLY what players would call mods?
OH I'm sorry. 12k at the moment. I did do a cleanse back in August
Hoooly shit well I feel better!
And also bad for you on update day
Update days get ignored until I feel like it lol
Now I’m kind of intrigued by what your game behavior is even like
You need a streaming channel that’s just “playing the sims with 50GB of mods”
OH I am not even the worst out there
The historical mods are the kicker
You need hair, clothes, furniture, wallpaper, flooring, windows, doors, mostly all cc. Then there's the mods that delete and alter worlds to make them look rustic, delete assets (invisible, really), then there's overrides for other things
I am SURE you’re not, for one thing my 10GB was all at least Maxis-Mix if not Maxis-Match, anyone playing with all alpha and like, WW animations, alone, before the script mods, probably doubles that
Ohhhh yeah I had a whole game plan to do the ...fff what is it. Not the decades challenge, I don’t think? The other one? Maybe it is decades. And then I was like ‘this is going to take SO LONG’
Overrides for baby bottles, overrides for fishing poles, overrides for greetings. There's mods to have a royal monarch and nobility system. Mods for diseases, mods for "herbal" remedies, mods for hunting for food, mods for "religion" (sims style, of course)
I mostly do the decades challenge! But it's the Ultimate one
But for a while I got really into this one modder who makes playable historical instruments and stuff? And people who have add ons so you can mill your own flour and you have to have ALL the ingredients for a recipe -- yeah there are TONS of rabbitholes to go down
I assume you mean Jane Simsten
Omg I was going to mention the Royalty mod! Haha I don’t think I’d be super into playing it but I really enjoy reading people’s fake kingdom crossover drama on Tumblr
Well, for the first part, the second one is...oh man, tip of my tongue. There are two with the crafting things that are big but one is a huge recipe and functional object maker and has a whole system for crafting
I got SO entrenched in mods. Way more than I ever played. And then also taught myself Blender so I could do better photography which....actually THAT was a transferrable skill, I’m kind of glad I know how to mess around with that
Truth is I really just enjoy making characters lol
A lot of them have huge crafting systems. There's PiedPiper, there's BrazenLotus, there's LittlBowbub
There's more, I'm just blanking
Oh, it was BrazenLotus I was thinking of! I know ...actually I think I’d gotten into all of those but decided BL’s seemed easiest or most interesting but I know I had stuff from all three, LBB the least I think
LBB has some good recipes for historical gameplay so I have a LOT of theirs
Yesss I agreed. I really hope it's good
so far this is looking very good
