Pretty much all of the official merch is the most Print to Order basic clothing to exist or paper products, mostly using existing assets from the movie or getting artists to do a ton of mostly basic chibi art
The official merch with newer art is along the lines of stuff I'd expect to see an anime con's artist alley, and in fact did last weekend
The only toys out there are bootleg
(and am amazed at how quickly the bootleggers made stuff that looks reasonably like the characters even if the quality is certainly, uh, Interesting)
I wonder how many of the artists working on the official stuff wound up with Convention Art flashbacks
Deeply Artist Alley Merch Coded
The chibis, the sparkles, the color gradient background...
There are Funkos out and Youtooz on the way, but yeah. Merch situation is way behind the popularity.
They absolutely missed on this whole thing
It truly takes months in general for any kind of merch, but it's really just so funny that the official stuff is unintentionally so deeply Artist Alley Merch coded
yeah i was listening to a radio report about how in demand Halloween costumes are for the main girls but that there are none mass produced
because Netflix didn't make partnership deals ahead of time, so there wasn't time to mass produce costumes
i can confirm that artist alley was full of kpop demon hunters at the last con i went to.
so they are filling in the gap (with quality that matches or betters the official rollout apparently)
Yeah. My niece is really into this movie, and my sister is like 'where are the dolls and figures? I want to give you my money!' (My niece is also being Rumi for Halloween, and my sister can tell you about all the tutorials she has saved.)
I imagine that they will over course correct for the sequel
Apparently nobody bit when they shopped around but like... they could have tried a little harder
This was the bootleg stuff at the con I went to last weekend.
