tldwatch: Sims Content Creators are bailing. Sims team put up a damage control post saying they have BIG UPDATE and FREEBIES soon
you know they cooked with even lilsimie bailed
Meanwhile, they are actively trying to shove AI into the game and another article (linked in the video description) has explained that them forcing AI has made their creative process SLOWER
I ammmmmmmmmm so proud of Kayla for getting out tbh LOL
Like they were in DEEP and they saw the smoke and knew
CandC are newer, but i love them so much
i think game devs are in for a tough time with ai and i don't think they realize it yet
microsoft is trying to make the next Halo with ai and is.... not going over well to say the least
Yeah... I am not invested in Halo so I can step back and be willing to watch the trash fire
halo was already kinda past it's relevancy date with infinite being a few years old now and so-so honestly (i never even finished it) and now this
They aren't doing themselves any favors
nevermind all the waves hands about microsoft these days
I'm not ANTI-AI until it takes jobs. If it's an accessory, fine. If it's a tool that takes less than 5% of total efforts put in, probably fine
It's when it replaces creatives and jobs and just the people impact that I start getting fussy. Also it isn't creative so it sucks lol
But it's a tool, it's just being misused and will continue to be until some sort of laws or guidelines are established for it
But that's just my opinion
Anyway. Onto Paralives updates
we're rooting for you paralives!!!!
PRETEENS!!
- Teens+ can get jobs, but there are no part-time jobs yet. YET.
- Pre-Teen starts at 9 years old, lasts 8 days (default timing) unlocks vibe, gives stat point, has 3 growth spurts + new interactions
I AM SO INTERESTED in the growth spurts
So they actually grow up during a life stage so it isn't just a jarring hop to the next one
- There are 2 types of heterochromia available in-game (MUST be genetic to pass down, will not pass down if artificially added to an existing para later
-- 2 types are central and complete heterochromia
- Kid drawings can't be hung up but they are considering it for later
- "Dates" do not exist in the sense of having forced UI or encouraged interactions specific to a romantic outing. There are romantic goals/wishes, but there is nothing specific to going on a "date". However, they are open to considering this in a future update if it's wanted
- Non-binary is customizable (get pregnant/get others pregnant, etc.)
- Some clothing is age-locked (toddlers can't wear high heels), same goes for lipstick/tattoos
I might personally argue against tattoos for story telling elements!! But I think this could be modded as an accessory so I will hold my tongue for now
^ By which I mean, not allowing little ones to have tattoos. In this sense, it would be a mark more than tattoo but I think people here understand what I mean
LASTLY for this dev update
- Clothes are not gender specific
You wanna wear a sweet tailored suit you go wear your suit. You want your lacey dress you wear that fucking lacey dress
My ONLY gripe is the tattoo being age locked for story telling. But if there is a workaround I am okay
Otherwise AHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhh GROWTH SPURTS
Not hanging kid drawings on the wall is a little bummer but they do plan to add it later! And they have so much to do and so many higher priority things to do that I'm not bothered to wait for this one thing
personally i'm really hoping for the ai crash people keep saying is coming
it may not be total at this point but if we can get a little less ai in everything that would be great
but anyway this new game seems hype
I am hype for it but I am keeping my expectations reasonable
I am absolutely buying it from the gate but that's part because I want to be able to rec or not rec it honestly to others
That and it's coming out near the end of my semester so it's my end of the semester treat to me
i'm not expecting it to be perfect, and i'll probably buy it right away too
i'm honestly just excited to see some competition for EA
Yes.. god. Inzoi just did not cut it
I had hopes Inzoi would be good competition but. Alas. AI killed it
hopefully Paralives won't make that mistake
some game devs realize that ai is a problem
They are so far being very upfront about being against the use of AI replacing creative talents or work. So I think it's safe
I think some AI is inevitable. Like when discord calls you out on a typo. But they aren't actively encouraging it or using it in a big way like Inzoi (and now EA) does
But that part is my speculation in assuming AI is everywhere in little ways and has been. Just now it's doing more than is necessary and it's harming industries, etc
yeah, i think the line i draw is 'use of ai as a tool' with guidelines and restrictions is fine. Spellcheck, autocorrect (with human oversight), even using it to read stuff out, all fine
art or using it to create code for a game? no
Yeah, I think we are on the same page
This plurk is hilariously similar to my feelings on Minecraft vs Vintage Story
I'm so excited for Paralives
I haven't touched The Sims in... man it's been over a year. But I kept like... missing it? only to quickly become bored again
I'm hoping Paralives can reignite my love of this style of game
Ngl without challenges I would be bored of the Sims and Sims games
I'll probably be doing a Legacy Challenge for Para from the gate since it's easiest to translate from Sims. And you can probably experience most of the game's everything by the end of the legacy
yeah, i want to try and actually finish a legacy family with Para
my main issue is i get so attached to my little people and want them all to die of old age and remain on the property and that gets... tricky
what with the playable people restrictions
multi generation stuff does get very tricky with char limits
For Ultimate Decades, I'm always struggling with space and hoping rolls kill the elders sooner than later lmao
trying to keep a family going for ten generations is fun
and you can put your own rules on it, or find a list to follow
Yaaa Not so Berry is a popular legacy challenge in the Sims but the rules probably won't translate well at first
So probably less rules to start is better
oh just found out Deli is staying in the EA network. She just turned her code off.
"to be a good voice to EA" lol
girl just say you like the money
