https://images.plurk.com/8AfoNPuMwKZE2HZayHSVA.png https://images.plurk.com/6V9vlsmFdeR7cCelC6S1Rp.png Days of “small independent content creators” are over, replaced by this “AI” “social media” company that can manage thousands of “believable” bots that mimics human interactions.

Next time you see some random recommendation post in mainstream social media, ignore it, that’s not human.
latest #26
Techbros manage to make social media into unsocial media full of ads and promotions, and worse, use as a propaganda tools. Well it’s always been like that, but now it’s cheaper and less human.

colek xaliber, udah riset influencer politik berbasis AI belom (hassle)
xaliber: Soon!!! Those buzzers will get replaced once someone train feed the model with Indonesia’s prokem languages.
dwan: i think with influencers one issue is that there are a lot of narcissistic people people who love public speaking and we're not running out of them atm can AI influencers be cheaper than maintaining those real people?
xaliber: That’s apparently what Doublespeed trying to “solve”. The whole website is kinda triggering to read, for me.

I think big influencers, for example MKBHD, can’t be replaced by this tool. Or perhaps big influencers will use this tools instead.

xaliber: Another research paper for bapak.
I'm guessing it's leaning toward the latter The personal brand is there already and they optimize it. I recall a friend who likes to "nyawer" camgirl recently complained the woman has been using AI

xaliber: right now they're refusing, but with their content being assimilated into the AI, what can they do? press charges for copyright infringement? (LOL)

i think, as far as content concerned (text, voice, image, video) this engine will act like a borg.

We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.

What I think you need to pay close attention/focus is how this abomination impact on democracy. Right now, the public aspiration already hijacked by misinformation industrial complex. With this abomination our public forum will taken over completely. And the so called democracy will turn into cinder. I guarantee you this...
perhaps I think they will be assimilated in some forms but I don't know how it will look like. I think in Indonesia we have an influx of cheap labor. I keep wondering what would be more cost-effective for the managers/business owners: hire influencers and cybertroopers, or hire the maintainers for AI? Because it always boils down to cost, right
herpiko: yea very interesting research topic... but I've been a bit struggling with research in the past few months tbh

I think social media should go back to a place where real friends interact, just like this place

fzrmc: that ship has sailed a long time ago. even plurk will sail too, someday...

xaliber: for their (political actor) purpose, the objective is not cost, but total control of the narrative. they don't give a shit about the nuances. even if you put cost in the calculation, AI will get cheaper faster than labor.
fzrmc: BeReal, Mastodon, PixelFed, Loops, Lemmy, Plurk, etc. Need more Indonesian there.

dwan: I have no idea about the community there, but do they have some sort of gathering?

it's not like that I'd like to join any gathering, but every once in a while, it's a warm assurance that we're actually interacting with real humans
fzrmc: Sadly I have not find someone over there from Indonesia. Not that I actively looking for them.

they don't have location-based communities? Reddit, interestingly, has it (I always assumed they are similar)
fzrmc: So, BeReal is like Snapchat, Mastodon is like Twitter, Pixelfed is like Instagram, Loops is like TikTok/Reels/YT Short, Lemmy is like Reddit, Plurk is like Plurk.

But Mastodon or Pixelfed/Loops, perhaps there’s specific Indonesia instance somewhere that I don’t know.
