someone with the same name as a friend and a private profile sends a friend request on steam. no mutual friends at the time. i'm suspicious but too much of a goober to ask the friend in question if it's really them. put it off for a while and then eventually see one mutual friend, so i decide to accept the request

one week later, i get a message on steam from a name i don't recognize. it's the same person, but theyve changed their name. theyre asking me if i recently purchased something on the steam marketplace

aaaaaand blocked

also the mutual friend is gone so i assume someone else also caught on
