I'm affectionately referring to these sparkly bats as "the Disco Bats".

And I often think of the story of the little boy who assumed bats were just "made up for Halloween, like ghosts" and then was stunned and delighted to find they were real!

I discovered that story recently and I chuckled so hard. We have a fair number of local bats that flit around at night. The other night, some folks came by to check out our Jack O' Lantern Jamboree and as we were standing in the yard, one of the bats flitted through.
I stared after it and said, "Whoa, it's like the spirit of Halloween dropped in to say hello."
