surely one of you will tell me if the acoylte was utterly canceled and kicked into the mud by the dwrp community at large, right
I think my main challenge w playing him is I have to make up a bunch of shit about his beliefs re: the Dark Side. there's some interesting stuff on wookiepedia that suggests that he's actually hoping to change the rule of two and make a vision of the sith that's not contingent on them killing each other all the time
hopefully people won't mind idk. how fast and loose is that stuff these days? prob psls/whatever are fine???
people won't mind qimir because he's hot. I think he's the only one I really see around these days
dwrp in general liked the acolyte iirc
oh great! as I've been scrolling around, I have not seen any acolyte characters idt. but it's only been like a week
did people not like the twins? or not as much
I think they were liked but being cancelled means no followup so the interest died down
and I think like with many of the disney things, the oversaturation and frustration killed a lot of momentum for star wars rp
yeah that makes a lot of sense. I'm sure the recent shit with ben solo doesn't help with that corner of star wars either
challenge #33894 find a fandom that is not being actively destroyed as we speak to rp from
... wait were you that qimir on texting
but yeah I don't think I've seen a lot of characters from the acolyte around dwrp, sadly
haha maybe avoid disney ones. I think the genshin impact/hoyoverse stuff is very popular, hazbins/hellaverse, animes like jjk
honeyfoot no the texting was not me, I have not played him at all yet, I just made a journal!
well y'know, if you're ever around bakerstreet, would love to tag with you o/
hhh that is hard, I have def been watching more animation/anime lately but I am still not fully in it for rp purposes somehow. it's probably slightly a hyperphantasia thing.
def seems good advice to cut back on disney, though. I mean I have been participating in the boycott overall
dfgg I am joking, rp your joy. but I'm not sure what LA canons are popular right. I suspect the one to hit big soon will be del toro's frankenstein
NO BUT I KIND OF WANT TO deal with disney less. I am actually pretty burned out on mcu and being around so many sad star wars fans does make it hard to keep the joy alive sometimes! (although I love andor so much)
lkdhglsh hahaha no there is! and I'm having fun with my threads
but I also just tried rewatching some movies to fix my voice and felt my brain glazing over. i think the long decade of that franchise and its many decidedly mid films has just sort of made it hard to stay excited atp
there are still scenes I cry for though
oh I feel you like I have quit all that but some things are eternal, it's fine.
for bakerstreet, part of the mcu's appeal is that it's so ubiquitous that people recognize the characters easily. it just gives an easy frame of reference even if one didn't follow closely
I did notice some people seemed to be making OCs that elicited a lot of interest, so maybe I should try to activate that part of my brain
yeah, OCs seem more accepted these days! though I think they still have a tough time getting bites on bakerstreet
mm, I might have just focused on a couple that seemed to be doing well, yeah
are people still into dune?? what about duncan idaho? he doesn't have as much canon as what I'm enjoying these days but maybe I could have fun
so the show creator confirmed that The Stranger was going to become the first Knight of Ren
also I think I made a journal for either Mae or Osha at one point
yeah she just recently confirmed it because the art book was released
oh that's awesome. well it makes sense then, the existence of the knights of ren as a group does violate the 'rule of two'
apparently that was part of his character concept; they wanted him to be Plagueis's apprentice but obvs we know Palpatine eventually becomes that, and they didn't want to immediately doom Qimir
a sith lord logically capable of teamwork sounds fun
maybe the ceo of mouse that everyone hates will, eventually, um, not be ceo anymore, and we can have nice things
but yeah they wanted to have other darksiders who had Sith training but who weren't Sith
(at least my other friends' current speculation is that basically ben solo movie got canceled because it would humiliate that old bag)
I think they're gonna get that movie made tbh
speaksincolor ahh also makes sense with his characterization in some video game per wookiepedia
I would watch the shit out of it
I feel like as seasons/lifespans of shows have gotten shorter and shorter, I'm increasingly appreciative when characters, esp characters of color, are given a really long, rich arc where they change a lot from start to finish.
I really hope so, the fans have been LOUD and Adam Driver does kind of have a thing for getting weird little passion projects made
and I think they may try to give us more Qimir
there have been crumbs; he just dropped in the Star Wars mobile game I play
I would love! I was so happy for manny jacinto. he actually came to a fan expo that I attended, and he talked about it with this very careful hope
and he was so shy about talking about acolyte like he was afraid the standing-room-only crowd were going to boo him
but obv we were just wild
yeah the acolyte had a stellar cast
anyway I will throw literally any of mine at ya boi
I will say, the writing in s1 was a little uneven for me overall. but I was like. really really looking forward to s2. which goes back to the 'giving shows enough runway to have journeys/arcs/anything' tbh.
enjoyed the femme gaze etc. aspects as well
... tbh I think it had potential but really didn't like the ending of the season
what didn't you like about it? I felt pretty neutral I recall
I just Wanted More Answers. and maybe more choppity chop fighty fight
it wasn't andor but nothing is lol. (and even andor had some flaws)
I'm in the middle of Andor rn
I think they did Sol / Lee Jung-jae dirty
like, I didn't like that they made him just a complete villain pretty much tbh
They also never hired a proper translator on set for him
ENJOY ANDOR!!!!!! IT IS GREAT! so much to love about it
personally, I felt somewhat sympathetic toward Sol, in that it felt like he, as much as Qimir, was a victim of a larger system that perpetrated rigid or even fascistic morality. he felt brainwashed to me in his own way. not that that excused his actions, but I thought that's what they were going for
but it's fair to say that I was prob giving a lot of generosity of interpretation. imo a lot of the characters had kind of holey characterization overall
which, y'know... could've been fixed / expanded upon in later seasons... if there had been any
yeah I felt sympathetic toward Sol; he messed up but he wasn't a villain
I think they had so many ideas happening that they didn't quite land because they were also introducing all this lore
ngl I probably just loved it for the cast and the fact that it wasn't more Mando
lmao yeah as a person who enjoyed the mandalorian there was/is absolutely a point at which I cease to care
I actually didn't even know the film was happening til someone told me the other day ;o;
I liked the first season of Mando but I can't even remember how much more I even watched
I watched part of Book of Boba Fett which also felt like more Mando
tbh I couldn't be bothered with most of the shows
I was in it for a bit! it was fun. really throws into relief how rare original IP is anymore though
It's like MCU: there's too much and I don't want to have to care about all of it
ok I just started reading more wookiepedia and now I'm a little anxious I will get canceled for not knowing more star wars. I feel like cassian is easier to play because literally his writers on on record saying "idk why would everyone in that universe know what a jedi is??" but like
the stranger might know more things lmao
it's probably fine right??? no one cares???????
... unless you wanna app him somewhere of course lfjsdf
not currently in the cards, but good to weigh into consideration
my client and I hilariously ended up talking about the Force etc. for like 15 mins of our session yesterday
it's fine, when I started rping Rey 100 years ago now I knew like three things about star wars
Rey was sort of easy because she didn't know shit unless it was about taking ancient ships apart but even so, I never had trouble just winging it.
it's not like anyone's gonna ask you to bust out the entire lore behind Darth Plagueis the wise
if they do I will have a stroke
I think I'm realizing I do feel more odd now rping teenagers than I did before. I could still do it, and I will probably at least try jordan li from gen v some time. but I just had the most 'hrm, prOBably nO' reaction looking at the high school au meme on bakerstreet. I'M OFFICIALLY OLD
oh and tbf, jordan li is at least 18, college age
