is feeling very down. Last night my "friend" Mayte took me to a rather expensive place, presumably because I said I was paying. She had rescheduled 2x & was 20min late. THEN today, she canceled a trip to the market after I was almost there, a 2o min walk! I'm just a sucker, aren't I? 
Mayte is a chef I met in Chiapas Mexico, where I was a volunteer. I stayed extra time to help her, bought things at the market (and didn't always get reimbursed) AND (of course!!!!) I helped her out with some money when I left because she had a big bill that she was worried about. I'm an idiot. Why do I try to help others? This is what it gets me.

I will just leave Mayte alone. She may have things going on that I don't know about, but I cannot allow myself to be badly treated.
You are not an idiot. Please don’t be so hard on yourself. I hate to say it, but Mayte sounds like a user, trying to see what she can get from you. I think you are correct to just exit the friendship.

Oh my gosh I am so sorry. She has no idea what a great friend she just lost. You do not deserve to be treated like that. You deserve better. Definitely let that go, you don't need a repeat.
