well it clearly wasn't a gatsby party when we know what happens at gatsby parties

So, the only thing I remember about The Great Gatsby is that he died by being shot in his swimming pool on beachfront Long Island property (which I took as a great insult because why did you build a pool when there is perfectly good beach right there but that's not the point).

i mean i think the point of building a pool on beachfront property is that it was used to highlight how stupid Gatsby was

yeah pretty much. gatsby spends a ton of money to get his past love's attention, which is why he builds these elaborate things -- there's no reason he did it other than. impressing daisy.

That could be the case.
or how short sighted, whichever the lesson of that book was

I think the point I was getting at with my anecdote is, that sure is a comparison the orange turd wants to make.
ain't no party like a gatsby party 'cause a gatsby party don't stop until several people are dead and everyone is disillusioned with the american dream

ahhh the roaring twenties. soon to usher in the depressing 30s and world war 40s
what gets me is this happens, and yet MAGA voters will still go BuT iT'S tHE DeMOCraTs' sHUtDoWN
at least a lot of Americans are blaming the GOP more than the Dems, correctly imo
Damn it's almost like when you have a trifecta and still can't run the country, people correctly blame you for stuff going wrong.
(well I say "trifecta" but currently the courts are in fact doing a lot of "no, fuck off" right now.)
good for them
funny how if you promise people the moon if they just put up with the scaffolding for a while, people start getting fussy when the moon remains in the sky...
and in fact, you can't even see it anymore because the scaffolding blocks the view
Oh right sorry I almost forgot, speaking of promising things:

(also sorry, I was doing a pretty chonky food donation today, this is how I'm blowing off steam.)

this is the kind of stuff where if you wrote a book, your editor would be like "Okay this is too on the nose, you gotta tone it down or no one's gunna take it seriously."

the only thing MORE on the nose would be if they partied like 1790s France or maybe the lavish 1900s Winter Palace Ball in Russia

we want bread and we want circuses and with SNAP lapsed, we're all out of bread
I mean... this man doesn't read so changes are he doesn't know shit about Gatsby.
this man just believes anything people tell him, honestly i wouldn't be shocked if someone sold this to him in like
idk how to put it but

remember when the military sang 'Do you hear the people sing?' and all the rich chucklefucks smiled and applauded?
that kind of vibe
as always, fictional evil is interesting, but most of the time real life evil is just incredibly stupid
