in the early chapters, the final boss is Dreska, the dragon-mother
in order to defeat her you are tasked with retrieving your father's sword, armor, and shield
which you find in various plalces
they're very powerful and have some cool passives as well
like casting lesser heal on you every third turn for free
and intimidating enemies into inaction on the first turn
and having crazy huge numbers
eventually the plot happens, and you learn that you're the baddies
and in the final chapter you're racing to Dreska in order to protect her from your father
in this chapter, as you explore the randomizer
"where the hell is the Ludriel set"
so when you fight him he has all the passives from the set you busted the game in half with back in chapter 1
part of the intended design of the game's equipment
is that Ludriel's set is really reliable and easy to use and powerful
but really specific clever builds will outpace it
so by literally giving the Ludriel set to the final boss
show me you've broken the system
I've got the best gear in the game. Beat me using your shenanigans
can you give an example of a winning build?
I had a build that replaced Magic Bolt with Lightning Slash, which made it so that any time I attacked it would also spend 3 MP to cast a jacked Magic Bolt on the same turn
then I had another thing that gave magic bolt a change to explode, hitting twice
and something else that gave magic bolt the Echo property, so the turn after casting it if I didn't cast it again it would echo the previous cast once
and also each basic attack would reduce enemy magic resistance
so I was machine gunning magic bolts that did abnormally high damage, almost always hit, and if they missed or I stopped to heal they would just keep casting more magic bolts for me
while constantly eroding magic defense
I love that kind of stuff
the time magic that just echoes attacks in absolum is so much fun
