PT: "hey, i got a call back from you guys about an X-ray?"
Me: "no worries, let me double check!"
Me: "so i don't see anything in our system about an X-ray?"
PT: "well i got a call back"
Me: "Well i don't see anything here so--"
PT: "GOD, FINE, let me pull over and i'll check the referral, is that okay??"
Me:
Me: "I mean. yeah."
Me: "Can you read out the exam request for me?"
PT: /rattles off clinical details
Me: "so those aren't quite what i'm after, does it say anything like X-Ray or CT or PET?"
[bc if we can't see a referral and the patient got a call back usually it's a PET scan]
PT: "well the message says 'sorry we can't make the appointment because it's missing the exam request'..."
Me:
PT:
PT: "i'll call my doctor and get that sorted out"
and then i get a receptionist being Patient But Clearly Annoyed At Me bc they have a patient in the chair and no reports or images for them when they're getting an extraction like
i'm sorry that printing dental images isn't standard practice, but also if you needed it that badly maybe you should have requested it on the referral?
also not our fault you don't use a fax machine anymore, or that we don't HAVE the ability to send reports any other way
genuinely sorry, literally not my fault, neither is the fact the imaging team hasn't gotten back to you about making an account for you to get images digitally
it's all shit and it's zero percent my fault or problem except for you making it mine
