- colored, $60 USD
If this had happened even a week later this would not be an issue whatsoever, but my vet does not accept payment plans and needs the amount to be paid upfront. domino is a young, healthy cat who has never had any medical issues before this turn was sharp and alarming. he's still very sweet and alert but he is in pain and not eating.
at the time of writing this plurk he's at the vet waiting for the bloodwork / x-rays to be preformed so i know what the next steps are.
My prices can also be adjusted to whatever people are comfortable / capable of paying with zero questions asked. Thank you for reading and for your time.
sorry those were old sketch commissions i'll update the first post when i get home as the current ones are more detailed and clean
you can also private plurk me on this account or my
bearhanding one if you would prefer
oh shit. that's scary, good luck!
Would you like me to resubmit through private plurk or stick with the email I sent earlier?
maruah: the email probably works better since i like having a record and plurk can be unreliable about pings
also relating to that since plurk won't let me edit any of the postings. $30 will cover 2 characters if you want two characters / ship art / platonic art / whatever. consider all the prices listed as for two characters / full bodies.
I'm going to think about this and get back to you. this is pretty much what I've been looking for
when I get home I'll take a look at my finances and see what I can offer. hope everything works out okay, Shikki
i got funds bro just will think of something, ill circle back after work

best wishes with that fuzzy baby
update: he swallowed a string
he needs emergency surgery
Oh man, I'm sorry. That's scary.
oh jesus. yeah it did sound a lot like noct. was really hoping hed pass it... im so sorry
Have you tried applying for Carecredit?
I've had to use that to cover my boy's stuff
I applied and don't qualify at this time. I have a new job starting on Monday and if this was happening on monday I could cover it.
The vet did not sound sure he would even make it through surgery.
I'm going to take a few minutes to compose myself and then I will go say my goodbyes to my boy.
He's never been one to go after string, I don't know where he got it from. I don't have string or yarn in the house.
I was there just two weeks ago on mine. I'm sorry. I feel your feel.
did they give you an estimate for the surgery? or are you thinking it's better not to put him through it ._.
The surgery is going to be between 5k and 8k from what the vet said and it sounded like it might be too late to put him through it.
Maybe if they caught it on Monday
and because my new position hasn't started yet I cannot qualify for care credit at this time.
i was going to see if i could prequalify and for how much but Fuck
if it happened next week i'd be fine, i'd be able to cover it and handle it easily.
but i can't do anything right now. and i don't think i can leave him to suffer until i can handle it.
i have no one around me and the idea of needing to go in alone and say goodbye is killing me. but i also can't let him go alone.
i'm asking them if there's anything else i can do
It seems there are shelters and humane societies that work with clin8cs for surrenders. if you cannot afford surgery can you reach out to those?
at least domino would be able to live in if they make it through surgery.
(also made sure it applies to canada i just don't know where in specific or i'd search for places ot narrow it down)
Oh NO. this is awful, I’m so so sorry sending all the hugs
(also that’s such bs with care credit. I’d almost suggest giving them an in person call to explain the situation and if there’s a way they can use an offer. There may be another too...I’ll look. ESPECIALLY if things are grim you shouldn’t have to be dealing with the first bill.] anyway, replurking
They're going to cut the string and see if he can pass it.
faye

Try
ScratchPay as well -- but yeah, I would definitely see if you can work out an in house payment plan (or even see if there’s another emergency vet nearby who will)
fingers crossed that cutting it helps.
I'm going to try to look at other options but they were also worried that he's not a good candidate for surgery due to the way the string has moved through him. There's infection and it may have cut through his intestines.
Oof. Sending so many good thoughts. If nothing else this should minimize any further damage and pain and that’s a good thing. You did a good thing getting him to the vet, even if this feels awful and things are out of your control. I know that doesn’t mean anything from a stranger on the Internet right now but. Try to take care of yourself too.
i'm a little overwhelmed right now and things are changing very fast but thank you to the generosity of everyone here in this community. we're going to go ahead to try the surgery.
oh my goodness i hope he pulls through and the best of luck to you and domino. i'm at work right now but will swing back after to send something over
any commission requests will be started / completed tonight and any more will be done as they come in. i cannot express my gratitude in words properly
try to rest and breathe when you get a chance, okay?
take it easy, Shikki, give yourself the space to process. I'm sure everyone will understand if you're not expedient with this.
yeah give yourself space it's OK
okay i'm going to take him to the surgery now
I don't know you, and I can't afford a commission or to help, but I'm so so sorry, and I hope that he comes through surgery and heals, this is such a nightmare for you
all of my fingers crossed for you and your lil buddy!
huge hugs!!! hope domino does great!
We’re at the emergency vet now waiting to be seen
Commissions are staying open so I can afford to pay the lovely people who have lent me the money to even try saving his life

but this is who you’re saving thank you everyone
It’s a terrible picture but he’s feeling well enough to try to break containment
be stubborn and live, sweet boy!!
be strong, beautiful boy!
we're rooting for you, pretty boy!!
He’s now in there waiting for surgery. I’ll update everyone on what is going on when I know.
There are some warning signs and he does have an infection but the emergency vet seemed optimistic
sent something. hope it helps. fingers cross for Domino
everyone's donations and commission requests have covered the diagnostics cost now we're just onto the big stuff. and i'm not sure if the people who have fronted me the money for the surgery want to be named - i will graciously if you guys do - but everything is now going towards paying them back.
this is such a huge amount of money and i'm hoping it ends up being on the lower end but i don't know and i won't know until he's out of care
the emergency center required half of the highest cost up front
in your defense, you were flipping the fuck out and the initial burst donations were to get domino seen at all
a gofundme is for "oh god emergency within a few days" not "oh god emergency Right The Fuck Now"
it sounds similar to nocts and his was like 4-5k roughly so yeah i hope its the lower!
don't feel bad for making decisions on the fly during a crisis man, sometimes you're living life an hour at a time and things change fast
He's just never been the cat I've worried about eating something he shouldn't. Antimony and Rosie have both had the strangest oral fixations their whole lives, but Domino just eats people food.
He's the reason I have to keep bread hidden
anyway i'm so sorry i don't have the bandwith to reply to everyone yet but i've been so incredibly touched at the generosity and kindness. i still don't know what direction this is going to go
i have never lived this situation before
you can pull through domino!!!! I'm so so so sorry this is happening
I hope Domino pulls through. I have a dog that did something similar, and he pulled through okay in the end (and finally pooped it out right before surgery)
dont worry about anything but yourself and the fur babies
hoping his surgery goes well!
not trying to make this about me but my dog nearly died in january and they were positive she wouldn't make it but every day she got a little better and she's still here
just gotta take it as it comes and remember to stay hydrated from all the crying
yeah uh, i have one of those old beat up towels w the strings hanging off and em loves to munch on them (he doesnt pull them off/eat them but still)... that is banned now. cats always find the dumbest shit man
domino will be ok and everything will be ok
take a breather, you need it
if you feel up to it, pop your gofundme link in the top post.
Yeah agreed -- take care of you and when you have a moment update the post, that way it’ll be on people’s feeds (and people may donate even if they can only chip in $5 and wouldn’t want to ask for art)
Ooops talking as you type
oh my goodness the eyes on that kitty. here's to hoping that he pulls through
the one thing giving me hope right now is he's still bright, alert, and desperate to give you a concussion to show you how much he loves you
he's the sweetest cat. the most chaotic cat but he has never been anything but a cuddlebug.
pets have no survival instincts, that's why they need us.
i don't know how my dog is alive because he keeps eating things that he should NOT be eating.
mamoritai: oh this reminds me of my childhood dog who ATE ROCKS on the reg.
I hope he comes out of the surgery and recovers! I had a scare with my kitty eating string last month. CATS.
A friend of mine had went through this same experience with one of her cats. he ate some elastic christmas tinsel that got all tangled up in his stomach and we had to take him for emergency surgery. he's now like 14 years old and still going strong.
i'm crossing my fingers for your chaotic voidling
I’m still waiting on the call from the vet to know how things are going.
My biggest fear is that the string cut through his intestines and he’ll need something more advanced to fix it that will impact his quality of life.
I can’t sleep because he’s always right by my head purring like a maniac and he’s just not there
calling the office to see if there's any update
apparently i was in such a state i wrote my number down wrong
i'm waiting to speak to a teach
again i cannto express my gratitude thank you everyone i am going to reply to everyone and find a way to give thanks as soon as i have the bandwidth
im so glad!! attaboy domino
okay, he made it out of surgery. there was no tissue death.
but it is going to be on the higher end of the scost
okay oky okay here's a fuller update
he made it out of surgery, he's apparently doing very well. still very affectionate and wanting attention.
the string was tied around the base of his tongue which caused it to bunch up inside of him. the vet missed it the first time because of how far down it was. there was string in his stomach all throughout his intestines.
they had to make several incisions to get it all out.
he is still doing very well. there was no tissue death or perforation which is what i was terrified of. aside form the effort that they put in to retrieve the string there was no complications. they were done hours ago but i put down the wrong phone number so they left a message to the wrong person.
i am going to have to start on the commissions on thursday night. please rest assured i am getting to each and every one - and even if you just donated i will be finding a way to thank you for this. you literally saved his life.
i'll also still be taking these on throughout the weekend so please, i work very quickly and love nothing more than to draw. i am tabling at a large convention and assuming things go okay that will help cover costs. i can spend the entire time at my table drawing as i will have help.
again thank you all so much. i haven't been active in the roleplay community for a while now but everyone has come through in ways i couldn't possibly imagine.
we're not out of the woods yet but i know my boy is resilient and stubborn as a goat. and i hope when i came post updates they'll come with pictures showing him as the picture of health.
oh man, sounds like a fantastic outcome so far
and if he's in good spirits that's a great sign
yeah he's being a little trooper. both clinics absolutely adored him. he's just a big affectionate void
he is a trooper, I'm glad aa bad as it was it wasn't worse.
and trust me, I've been in a similar state over my cats, it's understandable
aww I'm so glad it sounds like the best case scenario here
I'm so glad he made it through surgery and no complications
oh I'm so glad for no complications
Oh I'm so glad to hear there weren't any perforations.
ohh tough lil dude i'm glad there were no complications!
Okay further updates. Domino is recovering well but he still is not eating.
yeah, not surprising at all
If your vet hasn't provided any post-surgery instructions yet,
this article might help give you an idea of what to expect
yeah it takes some time to work up the courage and get over post surgery nausea
Yay Domino! I sent a lil to the GFM because I remember how pricy it was for my boy and he didn't even need surgery.
yeah it might take a bit for him to want to eat. he'll have post-surgery nausea and probably also has some trauma from the whole ordeal
as long as he's being receptive to water
He may not eat for 24-48 hours and that's ok.
