I love steady routine, cleanliness, discipline... It's really strict but it looks humanely run. The food looked good too.

it looks like the kind of prison where you don't have to worry about getting shanked or abused by fellow inmates

the guards don't even carry weapons, they just train in marital arts to subdue prisoners if they need to

also I don't think Japan has insane prison pipelines like the US.

tbh I think Swiss prisons are pretty neat too

what are they like?

their cells are basically a nice student dorm, they're also really good for training inmates so they have skills once they're out

the cell here are pretty small (but that's par for the course in Japan) but if you're well behaved you have a TV that plays all national channels, can check out books and movies etc

and yeah they also have a reintroduction program where the inmates are basically given a simulation of normal live for a couple of months to teach them how to live outside again

also the population is really small because the crime rate is so low, so there's way less chaos
