michigan is not one of the states who would have done full, but they WERE willing to do partials. now they can't even do that because the SCOTUS judge put a halt to EVERYTHING while this is worked out

again, I do have a decent amount of shelf stable food. I needed some more soy sauce and sesame seed oil, but due to mom's death, I have enough for this month along with hitting the food pantry.

I know in Michigan the distinction is practically gone at this point. there used to be little signs on prices on food at the store saying it was WIC approved (since WIC has heavy restrictions on what it can purchase, i.e. more 'healthy' food like milk and non sugary cereal)

they're not there anymore because while the program is still funded, you get such a small amount on wic as opposed to snap that most beneficiaries basically treat it as a supplement

aka they're trying to use women, infants, and children as a shield while not realizing they're still telling those same people to get fucked

it is 26 dollars a month for children, 42 per month for pregnant women, and 54 for breastfeeding women.

like the administration is just being fucking blatant at this point that they want poor people and their children to go hungry during rhe holidays.

to be fair wic also allows them to get a set amount of food ala food packages, but again WIC is nowhere near the amount they'd be getting on snap.

my main concern is that I wanted to get lattes cat food delivered since I was going to get the big 34 can box for around 30ish dollars of friskies pate due to HEAVY and the pain of carting that shit around on a bus, since I can get free shipping via using my ebt card

my only saving grace is that it seems like ebt cash assistance is a different fund, or at least whatever Im on is different

so, like. at least latte can eat and I can pay my utilities

I'm just holding on to tope that the outrage is going wrench more seats away from the GOP. I'm seeing the ignorant shitheels mouthing off, but i'm also seeing a lot more people all across the board furious at Trump and the GOP.

cause the Democrats have been doing so fucking much this term

they're fighting and they're not the ones building frivolous ballrooms and choosing to let people starve rather than compromise like the other party is. that counts for a lot

most independent voters I know object to both parties on moral grounds, they think they're both trash so they try to find an acceptable third option so they can live with contributing to giving power to these people

only one party here is coming across as genuinely interested in ending the shut down, even if they have to make concessions

because they're being shitheels on the state level here in Ohio, too, the Dems have been trying to get the GOP to pass bills to keep people fed and they're mainly sitting around with their thumbs up their asses. they put out the bare minimum of help to food banks and are basically leaving the rural areas to go hungry

Like the GOP gave the Dem's the fucked up choice between killing a five to six figure amount of people every year, or leaving people to not get paid/starve.

Well I'm gonna say this much is that being independent is just not an option anyone should really be anymore if you dislike anyone for political or moral reasons. We shoulda realized third parties weren't viable a long time ago.

Hopefully things turn around but considering Trump even got back in the first place I don't have a lot of hope these days.

Personally, I believe the two-party system is the reason we're in this situation to begin with so I'm going to have to disagree there. A true democracy has to be inclusive toward all parties, otherwise its still actively marginalizing and suppressing many voices in this country. It's going to take generations of hard work to dismantle it

but I believe it's not only worth doing but necessary. However, in the meantime, we have to work together.

And that means putting aside egos and staying focused on mutual goals. In this case, voting these jackasses out.
