[the food stamps saga, good news this time] Michigan went 'fuck you assholes in politics we're feeding our people' and I am so relieved. full payment is coming now for everyone, I assume because the state had its motion to pay for it passed in our own government
I hope other states eventually follow suit where they can, honestly. if I had the money I'd be giving towards food banks atm, but for now Im just grateful I should apparently be getting mine tomorrow.
FINGERS CROSSED Y'ALL, I will know at midnight through the app I use
I do know the state government was discussing this when we first were getting news about the shutdown taking so long
then it went from partial to nothing to full like three hours ago
WA state did this a couple of weeks again. happy more states are following suit
jevana: yeah from what I can understand, Michigan was basically waiting to see if there was going to be assistance or not in time for when this stuff goes out, as we are officially halfway through when food stamps are given out
the ruling essentially said 'fuck you, no' so Michigan shrugged and went 'okay then we feed our people ourselves'
michigan has a LOT of rural families relying on SNAP and both sides of the aisle in our government were like 'what the fuck they're going to let people starve???'
since we ARE a swing state lol
I do feel bad for people in Red States, and especially Mississippi about this.
like i personally am not impacted but i'm mad as hell. like our governor is trying but we're basically a microcosm on the budget issue
but I'm glad people are getting it
especially because i work in county government now!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yeah, again, Michigan is unfortunately used to having to fend for ourselves in terms of welfare programs, thus the methods for funding something like this are kind of already in place
add in that we as a state are used to having to deal with Unexpected Bullshit (normally of the weather variety) and I know often close to the end of the year we may have a bit more money in the budget due to not having an awful winter
and, again, practically none of our state politicians are going to shoot themselves in the foot over this given just how much of Michigan is rural
theres being loyal to your party and then theres being like Rick Snyder. no one wants to be him.
yeah i don't know what's wrong with my state.
I HAVE MY MONEY MOTHERFUCKERS YEEEEHAW
I actually have a round 300 which I assume is because they couldn't take the leftovers from last month like they normally do, and I had 2 dollars left
heehee I get to have the drinking coconut as a treat today
they were out apparently but the person got be a normal coconut that sounds like its got a shitton of juice in there
I am sad because soft coconut flesh is godly but I'll also take this too
