So I'd been doing great w weight loss goals, except I stagnated about a month ago
Trying to figure out WHAT was up landed on 'most likely not eating enough'
All online calculators give me I need to be eating around 1500-1900 cals a day for major weight loss of around a kg a week
I was eating about 1100-1200
my body was in emergency mode and storing all the energy it could
some diet adjustments and I'm back on track. I'm also increasing my exercise, I'm now doing a bunch other strength exercises on top of the spinning bike I do 6 times a week
I was doing pushups against the wall and moved into pushups against a table. I'm gonna buy some weights too!
this all means I've had to increase my protein intake. I'm now using protein bars lol it's very motivating to exercise and have a little chocolatey treat at the end (I have some that are low sugar or sugar free, they're just good)
anyway this is the news. NO LONGER STARVING MYSELF I GUESS I'd miscalculated too much
I initially removed calories from the total I need to STAY ALIVE AT ALL not the total I... use.... daily...
i did not know eating less than recommended could stymie weight loss! fascinating
but yes, good thing you figured this out! sounds like you're on the right track.
I mean I suppose if you eat like that for ten years you WILL lose weight eventually. but short-term your body decides we're in emergency mode and slows down metabolism and spends less energy
I was like, I don't think I can lower calories even more without plain not eating, and then a friend pointed out it's just too much cutting, and then I re-investigated amounts and was like oh damn yeah i'm starving my body
thankfully it's (mostly) easy to increase numbers without going ultra unhealthy or anything
I had cut rice from salads, it went back. along with tuna for calories and protein.
I'm snacking a little ham and cheese. also snacked apple w peanut butter (again, good for protein too)
eating (normal amounts of) pasta more often
today i had some with a tomato and tuna sauce for example
okay weight is stubbornly still the same BUT...... i've lost 4 cms of waist
I re-measured like six times to be sure lol
so clearly I'm burning fat for sure. it's just that i'm evidently also gaining muscle
