i just... love... getting to lean into both of their Extreme Problems. I love that they are insane teens and obviously so embroiled in each other but they have good reason to be because they're full of trauma and it's great

i also love getting to explore like. objective weird queerness with them. that they have trauma that turns into kinks that turns into more trauma that turns into making some things sexier until they become a panic attack. it's just FUN. THEY'RE FUN!!!

and also every time we write The Yearning as ren tries not to scream "I LOVE YOU" from the rooftops so akechi doesn't skitter off like a fucked up beetle i cry but it's good so let's keep doing that.

ANYWAY.... NEXT UP IS REN AND LAURENT... ren and laurent is so funny to me because despite not knowing the other's backstories i guess laurent and damen and akechi and ren just fit into the fucking yaoi tropes so well they're just mirroring each other in the absolute strangest ways

and it does mean in a certain sense that ren is more protective over him because laurent is so akechi-like in his brain, and it is Probably Weird but especially to Laurent seeing as he tries to keep people at a respectable distance

and now here comes ren, the boy who already soul bonds to other people too quickly, speedrunning a near stranger on that because they share such similarities to the boy he loves it's genuinely very funny. ren kind of knows this? he knows he shouldn't like, be letting this happen, probably. but also he's helping so shhhhh it's fine.

anyway he likes laurent but it's also now his personal mission to make that boy take care of himself because he's akechi 2: the second one. and while damen's out apparently this is his responsibility now. sorry buddy.

it is nice too from my side that this cr lets laurent engage with the concept of a guy that loves guys like him at a safer distance than what canon context allows
