Why should there only be civil unions? Valuing heterosexual marriage is a Christian tradition. Marriage is a legal institution.

If homosexuals can't get married, then you may as well only allow legal marriages to those with religions that value marriage.

OK with the civil unions for all idea. But good luck making that effectively a superficial change (marriage -> civil union).
