"If you're in your 20s and broke, you're in very good company. "
"Worse, all of this was compiled before the economic downturn wiped out savings and brought a wave of unemployment and foreclosures.
Many of those already close to the edge now face financial disaster -- and the young are most likely to be on that edge."
"Live cheaply as long as you can. " amen.
"Get health insurance." awesome
"Newly minted adults tend to overestimate how far their paychecks will go and blow too much on apartments, cars, wardrobes,
eating out and all the other trappings of grown-up life."
that really reminds me of some of my friends and family.. getting a $300 000 house and pristine furniture by the age of 25 as if
they're planning on dying in the next 10 years
my parents never got anything fancy until their early 40s, saved a lot, and now are doing wonderfully.
we were broke for 20 years that i can remember, but very happy regardless.
no one gives a shit about your furniture when you're 25. and if they do, then they're not worth keeping around.
i HATE it when certain people ask about how i'm decorating the baby's room
um.. with diapers? do YOU have the money to renovate a room and buy fancy-ass furniture for me that the baby won't even remember?
yea, i'm glad that my lady's mom furnished the baby's room, but i would've gone with basic stuff. and you learn very quick
that with a baby, you save as much as you can on clothes and disposable stuff because they outgrow shit in a snap.
i'm getting allll hand me downs
kina actually yelled at me for suggesting we use a cardboard box instead of a crib. i still dont see the use for one yet, but maybe i will
kerosene: With the way she's talking now, maybe you should try pitching the cardboard box idea again?
i was seriously just thinking in terms of like the progression of desk drawers i could toss the little tyke in. it seems like such
a big piece of furniture to get a kid if they're going to grow out of it in like 2 years or something
obviously im captain clueless future dad though
eh, if i can be an effective father, you're good. haha.
bahahahhaa. best compliment ever.
crib no, because mom and dad are GIVING us one, gooberhead
babies play with pots and pans for crying out loud
i'm gonna knit all the toys! well, some of them.. i got some cute patterns for teddy bears, dinosaurs and knitted blocks!
hey i'm not spending a DIME. that's what family/registries are for
and then it's all reusable
i mean i know it sounds bad to say everyone else is buying it all, but geez.. everyone seems to want to help anyway
and i'd MUCH rather link them to a registry with useful things than have them all buy little pink dresses >.<
like.. "hey if you REALLY want to help, get one of these things" and then it's something else we don't have to spot
lol weeeeeelllll you can always look at my registry

i will be sending it to everyone soonish.
target.com and under 'kina forney'
hahha yeah clothes are hard to pass up, and they're always so CHEAP! kids shirts for like 2$ at target or a dollar at walmart!
