give them a little slip w/ a number on it and use some sort of online dice roller to generate your winning numbers?
kgustin

I usually give randomly to active participants... "Great point - Have a prize!"
kgustin

I also have been known to pick from order of entry using even or prime numbers if I want to truly be random.
kgustin

Also multiples of a random number based on order of entry or participation.

well if you're not giving out laptops... I do birthdays. Ask 3 people for a number between 1 and 12 another 3 for 1-31. Factor out 12s & 31s

I like the bday idea. Thanks, I might try that next time. I love to mix things up.

2 ways I do it: Ask for a number from 1-100, ask someone "front or back", ask someone else "left or right"
milobo
says

then use their answers to count off to the winner
milobo

2nd way is when I have multiple prizes - put a bin in front of each prize and give tickets throughout preso for awesome questions, etc...
milobo

Participants put tickets in bins for the prizes they'd like to win. I give out tons of tickets which is fun...spawned a whole wiki thread..

Another way is to give everyone 2 tickets - one for themselves and one that they have to write the name of another deserving participant.

in my classroom I give everyone a number and then use the random number generator on the graphing calculator to pick the "winning" people...
Camping Lisa

used DEN PPT Digital Scavenger Hunt by Matt Monjan. Gave prizes to the first one to get the answer. FUN!
