spam it everywhere and keep it updated regularly with interesting content. Make it so that ppl can subscribe as well.

I did that. Not crazy about the spam part though. I think people are starting to hate that.

It's really the only way to get initial readership of any numbers. Otherwise it's just hoping ppl stumble upon it.
