Same here, there may be more people in SL than when I started in 04 but the community is gone, at least for me. I think what drives it....

home in SL is that it isn't meant to be like that. You can feel utterly alone in RL and it's fair enough cos you are alone. But as you said

there's 80,000 people online in SL. Kind of magnifies any slight paranoias you might have about who you are and how you're perceived
