(A school that has allowed its pupils to start the day an hour later says it has seen absenteeism decline.)
aw that pic is so cute

but yeah.. don't teens need like 10 hours of sleep or something crazy like that?
i dont think we're really engineered to be up that early
Wow.. they used to start their school days at 9? an moved it to 10? Shit! My high school started at 7:45am. First class was already kicked
I started at 8am as well.
school started at 8, but i started at 930
ewwww 7:30! same length day though, we finished at 2:45. i'm curious - how many classes did you have per day?
4 classes? damn. yeah mine started at 7:30, but that was 15 mins of home room where you just say there and woke up.
homeroom was such a waste of time!
haha its roll call and morning announcements and stuff
might as well just do all that in the first class
and each class i had took role
well yeah, but thats how they know if you skipped. If you were there durning home room, but not there for 4rd period math.
i dunno, we got our lockers in home room and such. So you only had 4 classes? thats crazy. I think we had 7 or 8. i can't remember how many
only lasted for 42 mins i think
what? they took roll for each class - that's how they knew if you skipped. thus negating the need for homeroom
we had 4 classe per semester =half year
so 8 classes per school year
naw, home room is when they see if you are there for the start of the day. Where it counts if you are in school that day. Or are late.
i dunno, we always did it that way. They marked you there, or late for school, or absent. And you get your lockers and dealt with the
morning shit. Our home rooms were in abc order.
that way it doesn't cut into your first period class and that teacher doesn't have to do deal with all that shit, and then the class.
you waste more time doing that.
cause...the teachers are doing it ANYWAY. just for other students + transit time for those studnets
it's not like they hire some teachers to be just homeroom teachers.
well i know that. i dunno its just the way my school always did it.
i guess they just liked having the students in order for home room rather then scattered all over the school.
Like all the SR year home rooms were in one hallway/half of the school. And then the Jr's had a whole other hallway.
we had the same system, but they often trued to make your first class with the same teacher as your homeroom teacher
if I knew i didn't have to leave after homeroom, i'd just pass out on my desk till the class actually started
our school was so small though it didn't make much of a difference for transit
everything was either across the hall or immediately downstairs
Our classes was a mix of different students in different grades. My first period my sr year, was art class.. and it was mixed with different
grade of students. Srs and Jrs.
ours were never mixed.. well very very rarely
actually i can't even think of ONE. the only reason i met kimmie was because I was skipped ahead a grade in all my art related classes
like visual arts, art history, and photography, i did with the older kids
because i came from that art high school in 9th grade, heh
aahhh yeah. I think around the end of your schooling, it depends on what classes you have. Like if you are mega smart and have the highest
math class, but are still a Jr, you can take it with Sr's
ah yeah.. they can drop you wherever but the class was still designated for a certain grade level
The electives are the more mixed ones. Like i had two art classes my Sr year, and it was mixed.
ours is set up with requirements. If you have done the required classes, you can move to the next one. I think Science/ Lab was the only
ahh, my school had like 4000 kids - so kids traveling from class to class was a big deal
class where the grade stayed the same.. cause it was tied in with gym class, and in gym they kept the grade years together.
hah this will make you go "What" Brad. Because science lab required more time, one day a week we would not go to gym and stay in science
class for two periods instead of one.
Thats why we had to have gym and science next to each other always.
what?!
hahaha was just expecting you to say "That's stupid? Why don't they just give you more class times? and less classes to fill the day"
oh yeah.. our home room was where we took those yearly school tests for the state..
at least i think so. fuck i can't remember anymore.. I know we started them in home room..cause it was abc order already.
Hey.. did your school have breakfast for you if you got there before 7:30>
haha no!!! but the caf was always open from early till 1pm i think
you could buy food if you wanted to but nothing was free
ooh yeah.. you had to buy it at my school too. But they had breakfast things out for kids who came in to early for home room. Had cappichino
s, coffee, cereal, begals you can toast
awww lucky! i wish we had had free food i would go in early!
hahah it wasn't free. You had to pay for it
i dont know i never got there early enough XD i lived behind the school so i walked in just in time for home room
Brad- me too. 4 and 4 per semester, and attendance every class
breakfast here! twas awesome but i rode the bus so i never caught it. plus i mucjh preferred morning games of hacky sack
i was late like every day.
i had to go to summer compilation cause of it. How lame is that of me? It was right over the hill and i was still late every day
