this store is going supercentre in a few months... full grocery department!
we've been 24 hours for 2 years :X only one in town
I am amused by the discussion of profit in that article though lol
it's easy to profit when you pay slave kids in peanuts.
our profit sharing this year is $1007 each, and we're a high shrink store.
every company that sells anything manufactured pays kids in peanuts
including ikea and every piece of clothing most people wear >.>
source of products and markup, and employee wages has more to do with profit in this company than low prices
not to mention sales volume
yeah they know they neex X amount so they have huge volume discounts
and when you're buying for thousands of stores, it's a lot easier to get volume discounts for common items
we did a whole chapter on walmart in marketing.. they're basically geniuses
I can tell you right now how much we paid for any given product vs how much we charge the customer for it, sometimes it is a really drastic
and yet still viewed as 'cheap' compared to other stores
but often those other stores don't get nearly the volume discounts that walmart does because they order so much less
for most food products though the markup is very low, sometimes even below cost for competition
but that's why there are 50 other departments with big markups, to compensate for that
when you see those slashed prices, just remember that every cent you save = a peanut a slave boy is not being paid.
i leave a bowl of peanuts soaked in antifreeze on my porch every night so those kids can finally end their uneducated, post high school,
except not O_o the products still cost the same. the company still buys them for the same price
lower cost to consumer = lower markup, and sometimes even going below cost. that is within the company itself
Brad can I have some peanuts
I HAPPEN TO LIKE YOU, SIR!
