ah ha, yes ours are crap and continuous for 12 months with quarterly reviews plus seperate individual development discussions

yes reading all about them and they sound rather dumb, and way stressful too!!

yes but everyone love a metric, good way to keep people down as they are always too easy or hard and they must be SMART objectives of course
